They still haven't announced the combined worldwide efficacy of their vaccine. I was hoping that it would be announced by the time it finally gets approved for general use in china, similar to how sinopharm did it, to put an end to the multiple numbers we currently have. But alas, it doesn't happen. Quite disappointed to be honest.
The data they got is better evaluated separately as their study populations are not really randomly selected. Brazil basically got whichever healthcare workers were willing.

If anything they should toss out the Brazil data and do further trials.

I agree, it is unnecessarily strict and just complicate the data compilation. Regarding further trials, I think the most important one for them is to further research the hypothesis of increased efficacy by delaying the second dosage into 3 weeks instead of 2.

Brazil result is an disappointed due to the fact that Sinovac was desperate back then and hasn't considered the adverse effect of enrolling only medical staffs. Any combined result would look terrible at the moment. So if Sinovac decided to release a combined result, it would be after full results from Turkey, Indonesia, and Chile are available.

As localizer suggested, the reason could be because the Brazilian data is skewing the sum result negatively if the trials worldwide were to be combined.

Sinovac has really got the raw end of the deal with the Brazil trial. As a result of that, you now hear news media like BBC, Aljazeera, DW News going on a spree reporting that Sinovac vaccine only has 50.4 or even 50 % efficacy. (probably intentionally ignoring the other trial results that fair much better.)

Yes, vaccines are not perfect and have their own issues, but they are still our best solution. There are many other potential solutions, such as anti-viral drugs. They face the same mutation issue. The drugs also won't work if their target bug change to something unrecognizable. That's why it's so difficult to develop a flu drug.
Has there been any news on the efficacy ability of these vaccines after being administered for 6th months?

Take a break from what you are doing and use your biochem skills to come up with test kit thats works in a similar fashion as a diabetes blood glucouse test with a reading in 5 seconds but in this case it's looking for your covid immunity level ability. The test would be applied at airports and other points of entry or personal e use to check on whether a booster shot was required etc etc. People are saying we are going to be stuck with this covid thingy for 7yrs. Think of all the $$$$$$ you could make.

I have not seen any data on the long term efficacy. If they started the clinical trials back in July/August, their 6-month data are coming in now. They will need to spend the next few weeks gathering all the data. It's a hassle to track down everyone. And they will spend the next several weeks cranking out the numbers. Let's wait and see.

About the $$$$$$$. I'd love to have some of those! With that being said, I'm working on something even more serious. Cancer! Once we pass the "annoyance" of COVID-19 (yes, it is an annoyance), we will need to get back to the actual life-threatening matters, like solving cancer.

So Bloomberg declares the CanSino vaccine less effective than Western and Russian 'rivals' after comparing it to every Western/Russian vaccine on the market except Johnson & Johnson, even though both CanSino and J&J are one-shot adenovirus vector vaccines therefore the most comparable. Could it have something to do with the fact that J&J also has the same 66% efficacy rate as Cansino which makes China bashing inconvenient therefore must be forgotten?

Well what I've read is none of the US vaccines still haven't been peer-reviewed. All their data is what has been released by their respective companies. So any data being analyzed is data that those companies have chosen to release to the public. So everything you're hearing is what the biased Western media wants to believe. They're simply going by the prejudice you can trust the West while you can't with China when their vaccines are in the same boat. I remember early on they said a vaccine of 50% efficacy was considered successful meaning it was enough to counter a pandemic. They can be lying of efficacy anywhere between. Their nit-picking on numbers is hypocritically what they accuse of going on of vaccine nationalism. Now they're saying China is lagging behind in vaccine compared to the West. What the hell does that mean? Number of people who've been inoculated? How do they know? They were accusing China of injecting the vaccine into people before it was approved by authorities in China. Also China has handle the pandemic well without a vaccine so the rush to vaccinate isn't as dire. Then they say vaccines could only last six months. Well if you're going to suffer from distribution problems of half a year before the average person gets a shot, all that could be for nothing.
