I think these people truly believe what they say. Scary part is how much power they hold.
Even scarier is that this kind of power mishandling is finally starting to blow up
In there collective faces. No media is going to be able to mask the facts in the coming months of how all this madness is catch up to them at full speed. They could’ve avoided this but oh well

Yet the same general is basically powerless against a pandemic and all he can do is avoid getting himself infected while giving out thoughts and prayers to the millions that are soon to be infected and let to the chopping block. This isn’t a foe that can be bombed to death like the previous problems can. Hence this is a generals worse nightmare, an enemy that cannot be harmed (at least on a conventional level)

With 300,000+ deaths and increasing by 2,000+ a day, NYT has the audacity to criticize China? China will be the only major economy that will have positive growth in 2020 and they think China will pay a painful cost? Refusing to lock down the economy so wall street gains at the cost of main street is NYT's notion of livelihoods and liberties.

In other news, the results of Sinovac trial in Brazil will be delayed another 15 days or so. However:
Butantan Director Dimas Covas said none of the volunteers vaccinated in Brazil's CoronaVac trial developed a severe case of COVID-19, contributing to optimism about its effectiveness.

Maybe the mainland government is requesting for more data before approving Sinovac and Sinopharm vaccines. That's why the delay. The mainland government might want to scrutinize the data more closely and asking for more information before granting the final approval.

They should have released results today. Everybody was expecting them too. Even it efficacy was not the greatest, people will naturally assume the worst after 3 delays, all people know right now is that efficacy is +50%, which is a joke of a statement.

The average layman does not care if inconsistent results are released in Turkey and Indonesia. Indonesia's trials have only 1,600 people so even if the interim analysis is set at like 20 cases it would take forever to reach it. Turkey has 13,000 volunteers but they started in sep/october, so they wont hit interim until late jan/feb. This is a case of incompetence in both execution and understanding of public relations.
