With 300,000+ deaths and increasing by 2,000+ a day, NYT has the audacity to criticize China? China will be the only major economy that will have positive growth in 2020 and they think China will pay a painful cost? Refusing to lock down the economy so wall street gains at the cost of main street is NYT's notion of livelihoods and liberties.

They should have released results today. Everybody was expecting them too. Even it efficacy was not the greatest, people will naturally assume the worst after 3 delays, all people know right now is that efficacy is +50%, which is a joke of a statement.

The average layman does not care if inconsistent results are released in Turkey and Indonesia. Indonesia's trials have only 1,600 people so even if the interim analysis is set at like 20 cases it would take forever to reach it. Turkey has 13,000 volunteers but they started in sep/october, so they wont hit interim until late jan/feb. This is a case of incompetence in both execution and understanding of public relations.

Well if it's not as good as the others it shouldn't cost more. Hope Chinese people are not getting ripped off.

I think the sinopharm number has come down quite a bit, that was the original quote from months ago.

Pfizer cost per dose is from bulk order. Sinopharm cost per dose is retail. It is not comparable. However, I do think any further delay is not wise. Even if they don't have the full data or they want more data, it is better for them to release the results now or very soon.

This is stupid, along with the lack of data release from Sinopharm trials in UAE. People need case counts with efficacy % to determine overall efficacy. At this point, most people including myself are becoming more skeptical. They could released data like the Russians and it would have been better, even with ridiculously low sample numbers. Shitty data is better than no data, since nobody gives you the benefit of the doubt.

It isn't that big a deal if the date can be released in January. Don't think it is the best strategy but Russian vaccine has not done that much better with the early date release. The negative publicity from the West around small sample size is enough to discredit the Russian vaccine.

Both Sinopharm and Sinovac primary objective is still obtaining approval from the Chinese government. Other countries would wait til their own clinical trials or full results before approval. Since many countries want to vaccinate its people in late Jan, both firms need to release the date a week or two before that.

The study followed a group of 34 patients in various age groups who had taken both doses of mRNA-1273 and tracked their neutralizing antibody counts for three months since the first dose. Clinical data show that antibody counts fall sharply (between 50 and 75 percent) during the three-month period in 56 and older age groups, suggesting that the duration of neutralizing antibodies triggered by the Moderna vaccine is relatively short.

Ooof, even with 2 doses?

Though this doesn't necessarily mean no adaptive immunity. It could be that these people get infected again but are able to quickly mount an effective immune response.

Just remember these are the same people that admitted "we cheated, we lied, we stole". If you live in North America, you are under no obligation to help colonists who live by you, your more a citizen than any of them would ever be (since statistically you are more likely to have taken a citizenship test). I've stopped donating blood and I've certainly cut back on volunteering at local charities. These are not the type of people you help.

I'm fine with helping people, it's just figuring out who deserves help or not.

The amount of HK FLG TW Indian propaganda farms is staggering and disproportionate to their actual demographics. I'm willing to bet half the hate comment are from these groups

We should not cloud our judgement of individuals involved in our lives simply because of a sophisticated propaganda campaign.
