Wit regard to the COVID-19 situation in Taiwan. Yes, they have done a good job. However, that’s mostly because they have been lucky. They were lucky that the virus originally came from China. The DDP is against China.
The DPP is not against China. President Tsai has said numerous times that she's open to unconditional talks with Xi. It is the Chinese government that has the preconditions for talks. You can argue they're reasonable preconditions. But Tsai doesn't demand, for example, that the CCP revoke the law that justifies an invasion before talks can happen.
Because of that, China had stopped most of the travel between the mainland and Taiwan last year.
That's not true. The Chinese government restricted tourism visits to Taiwan, but it didn't impose a travel ban. There was still a large amount of cross-Strait travel for business, family visits, (permitted) tourism, education, etc. Remember, Taiwanese people going to China and then coming back were as much an infection risk as Chinese people going for a short stay.
Then the DDP has no issue implementing the harshest border closure because of their anti-China policies.
Another interpretation is that Taiwan has seen the result of viruses spread around East Asia and this time they realised that a travel lockdown was the best way forward.
Then when the pandemic stemmed from Europe and Americas, they lost control a little because they could no longer implement the kind of harsh border closure with the Mainland.
Did they lose control? I'm not aware of any significant outbreaks in Taiwan.
No other country in the world has made a huge fool of themselves like the DDP government. In another word, incompetence.
I can't agree with that. Most countries are impressed by how Taiwan dealt with the situation, especially given its proximity to China.
If you want to know what’s going on with the DPP, you should watch Dennis Peng’s You Tube channel, true voice of Taiwan.... Of course, his biggest issue has been with Tsai Ing-Wen herself and her fake PhD degree...
Yeah, Dennis Peng has zero credibility. He's a nutjob. LSE confirmed in public that she had the degree.
Taiwanese students make up a very small number of students in top universities around the world like LSE. The universities also do not get any significant grants from Taiwan. LSE have no reasons to lie about Tsai's degree.
Or to put it another way, there's nothing wrong with questioning it. But when the university in question states "yes, we really did give the degree", that's the end of the matter. LSE are very well respected. They don't sell degrees like some dodgy colleges in other countries.
If Tsai was president of China, there could conceivably be a reason why LSE might lie to curry favour with a huge country with a lot of international students. But not Taiwan.
