Despite the fact that NZ is in full agreement with Australia's stance, our deputy PM Winstone Peters (it was Peters that went to Washington to implore Trump to push back against China in the Pacific) assures us that President Xi has told him that there will be no retaliation for our stance in wanting an investigation and reinstatement of Taiwan to the W.H.O.

Hmmmm I'm beginning to think Peters is beginning to sound like Trump.

@weigh2000 "Trump also won the last election. And despite all his incompetence and the disastrous handling of the covid-19, he still has a fairly good chance to win the reelection in November. So? "

For those of us who know very little about Taiwan, it would be nice to see some facts that support Vesicles opinion that's all.

Just because Xi told Winston Peters that China will not retaliate against NZ does not mean that will apply also to Australia. Besides, Winston did not say what he promised to do in return - may be NZ will clue China in on what the 5-Eyes are doing in return for China not to act against NZ ;)

hahaha Hendr... why don't you go live in your Communistic Paradise

I had lived in Communism, so now it's your turn LOL

China is communist ? I thought you know marxism very well. I thought French is probably more socialist than China since their SOE controlled more than 60% of the economy whereas in China private company make the larger percentage of the economy. Jura you live in the past and NO China is no longer communist when you have Stock market , More billioner than US, No welfare state like Sweden or Holland. If you don't work you don't eat in China.

Anybody can open a private company and keep the money, They can move, choose their job or quit a job in other word decide their own fate or even immigrate. You need to see this video from A Canadian who live in China for 17 years and can attest from the ground what is life like in China. He is a youtuber who debunk lie and propaganda directed against China, He live in Nanning a third tier city in Guangxi. He is in awe by the changes for the good that he see in last 17 years

US state department criteria for labelling accounts as ‘propaganda bots’ seems to merely be that they make and like posts that the Trump regime dislikes. It shouldn’t surprise anyone since Trump openly calls US new organisations ‘fake news’.

The excuse the state department gave after Twitter rubbished their baseless accusations is that this is only a sample out of a quarter million ‘suspected’ accounts. Yeah sure, as if they didn’t pick the 5k that most strongly support their case to send to Twitter to investigate. It’s pretty telling that they couldn’t even rub together 5k ‘Chinese bot accounts’ after all that looking. If there really was a state campaign, there would be a hell of a lot more accounts that 5k. You can easily rent far more to boost your profile as an individual.

The harder Trump tries to smear China with these half baked nonsense claims, the more he demolishes what little credibility the US left.

In the interest of transparency, would be interesting what is on the State Department's Global Engagement Center (GEC) list.

Perhaps, This also made it on the list.

The last time China practice true Communism was in 1978. That was the year Deng Xiaoping carried out economic and political reforms which changed China to what is known as State Capitalism. It brought about rapid economic growth and much higher Living Standards.

To be honest, I think China is still a socialist country. As long as China has public and national ownership of land and resources, and its SOEs have a sizable share of the economy, then it qualifies as a socialist country. What China urgently needs at this moment, right after the pandemic, is a national single-payer healthcare system that can provide affordable healthcare for all its people, plus a nation-wide pension plan that offers secure retirement benefits not only for urban residents, but also for rural residents and migrant workers, as well as 12-year free education for all children regardless where their parents live. These steps will ease China's transition into a consumer economy that will relay more on its vast domestic market.

Taiwan either got lucky or they're lying. Given that Taiwanese travel to the mainland all the time and Taiwan claims they closed the border in time, what does it say when Europeans are saying that coronavirus has been around in Europe back in October? If it started in China like they're still saying then how come Taiwan wasn't hit more given they didn't shut off until 3 months later and had little cases? What it says is it didn't start in China or else many from Taiwan would've carried it back home if China were the epicenter.
Both regions benefited from their experience with SARS.

Anyone read on the barley tariff issue witj Australia. I say China should just press on with it and show the Aussie that China is not a pushover you can bully easily.

Since Australia is openly working to contain China via The Quad and nonsense like Indo-Pacific, it is only right for China to return in kind.
To be fair, the Australian intelligence also pushed back on the Wuhan lab leak nonsense:

I think it would be better if you will stick to the topic and not lace your posts with political innuendoes against the Singapore government.
Though some of your points may have merit but this is not the thread to have them.
And yes, I am from Singapore.
.

I stuck largely to the topic.

No political innuendoes from me as I understated and euphemize the political situation in Singapore.
And that was only done when I saw clear misunderstandings which needed some clearing up

Times are miserable enough all around the world without me adding to their load of misery.

Mr. Chinese assure me it is safe for us to gang up and stab him, it is okay, he will not retaliate.

I can see where you are from. You giving a totally misleading picture of Singapore.
Why do Singapore politicans need to fix and rig elections if they are so good?
And control all the papers there and fix all kinds of rules?
and draconian laws.
A collection of 2 persons is counted as a riot.
And only folks like you can write into the papers there that life in Singapore is so good and paradise on Earth.
Anyone saying anything else will not be printed.

I do not care to argue with you or to see anymore of your posting again

1.Because Singapore is too small, that it only took a small mistake to fatally kill her future. There is no 2nd chance like what most othet nation can afford.

2. PAP is the only party proven with capability to govern Singapore.

If they are as bad as you suggested, then how come they won the last elections?

Cersei Lannister destroys all her enemies and ends up becoming the queen. Yet, she is as incompetent as you can imagine. Ci Xi also managed to take control of the entire China, but ended up destroying her own empire. As Dennis Peng says, the DPP used all the nasty tricks in the book to win the election.

If you want to know what’s going on with the DPP, you should watch Dennis Peng’s You Tube channel, true voice of Taiwan. He’s notorious for being anti-China and pro-independence, but is now also anti-DPP because their corruption, human rights violations and limiting freedom of speech, as well as election fraud in Taiwan. Of course, his biggest issue has been with Tsai Ing-Wen herself and her fake PhD degree...
