Yes it is pointless, if it's politics because one side can't convince the other side. BUT, there is a point of FACTS to defend. Especially when one side make unfounded allegations/assertions!
Vesicles, unfortunately i don't hold a PhD, so have no experience in it. while I was doing my masters, I was friends with some Phd students. They told me they have to hand in original pieces of work. If that's the case, isn't it difficult to plagiaris other people's work?
I always had a sneaky feeling that Tsai and LSE hasn't always been straight with regards to her Phd. Especially LSE had form with Gadaffi.
I always believe a PhD should be hard-earned, and not for establishment to use for financial rewards.
Trump is a disgrace, I watch most of his "news briefings". There is very little news, and a lots of boasting, deflecting, and blaming. Here is a fine example, the reporter clearly asked why he behave in such a way, and he comes back with "ask China"! It is very sad we have such a school playground behaviour from the most powerful person in the world.

Well, when a student submit his thesis, our school has an office that checks and matches every word of his thesis with all existing published literature. If any 3 consecutive words or longer phrases in the student’s thesis matches the same consecutive words in a published work, there will be a flag. This office will send us, the thesis committee members, all the flagged sections. We will decide whether the match qualifies as plagiarism. If the matched phrases are simply some widely used terms or names of some devices/organisms, then it’s perfectly fine. However, if the matched phrases are descriptions of something, then it qualifies as plagiarism. The students’ thesis cannot even match those of their own advisors. We take these things extremely seriously.

There's history to this. It use to be against the law for a non-white person to testify in court against a white person. Just like you saw that with Trump here it was beneath him to answer the question. She could only ask that to China. Ever notice that Asian journalists can't write news stories saying anything critical about the US. They either only write fluff stories or say bad things about their ancestral country of origin. Ang Lee's first US movie, The Ice Storm, got heavy criticism because it was a movie about married American couples that were involved in swinging. Critics were complaining how can someone from Taiwan dare to film a movie about a culture that they're not from meaning not white. He didn't write the script and I believe it was adapted from a book first written by whites. Yet white filmmakers can film any movie about any culture they want and usually follows a negative stereotype. When I was in film school, I wrote a script about what if Nazi Germany had won WW2. It wasn't cartoonish. It was basically a message about people who hate start eating their own after they run out of people they can hate. It wasn't a cowboys versus Indians type story. One student told me I had no right to write it and I should make it about Japan. I also wrote a Western and someone else complained that I dared to portray a minor character who was white as dumb after in his script he had stereotypical Korean organized crime mobsters as bad guys. Yeah there were no dumb people in the Old West. Never mind that majority of my characters including the protagonist were white. When you read comments on news stories on the internet, someone always complains about Chinese exercising free speech when their comments are critical about the US.
I missed Trump daily CoronaVirus Task Force briefings or any of his briefing. It has so much entertainment value.
Another day and yet another tin-foil conspiracy theory for the US government. Too many it is difficult to keep count.
Somehow they keep falling short on evidence despite all their enormous evidences?
Before anyone bother to answer, yes i know the evidence is in all over the self-fulfilling propaganda media outlet. Ask yourself first if it is really evidence?
