I don't know when this was filmed. But it was posted yesterday. It shows that the streets are empty in Chinese cities. Not because people are forced into lockdowns but people are afraid to come out because of fear of infection. I don't know how long this situation would last but at least for now this will help to flatten the curve. And reduce deaths and the strain on hospitals.

Pretty much the same in Shanghai, but another reason is because it's friggin cold. Today i went cycling near zero degrees wind blowing at me, don't even feel like going out.

Mask mandate is out, testing still required if you want to enter hospitals, otherwise no more testing. My shipyard with thousands of workers even allow asymptomatic ppl to come work. Nobody cares anymore, i guess after this we need to pay for testing.

Probably will get busier ones people hey it and recovery from it but it's ironic that it's even more empty than during zero covid. People are self isolating. Definitely will help flatten the curve.

Emergency ward opposite my apartment, seems normal. Week 2 of loosening up, 50% of the people in my company infected, half had no symptoms, another half had mild fevers, and one had 39deg fever, no hospitalizations. I am 3 dose sinopharm, i exposed myself on purpose to an infected colleague in the same bus. Still not infected after a week.
I wish I could get sinopharm or sinovac. I hate mRNA vaccines. I've seen so many people who's autoimmune disease flare after mRNA and one protein sure add a direct result of the vaccine that I am pretty sure would not have died of it was a none mRNA vaccine.

Why didn't China go on a vaccination spree before relaxing Zero-COVID? The reopening was always going to be hard since you have a massive population who don't have any/sufficient enough immunity against the virus. Getting as many people as possible vaccinated, then gradually opening up seems like the best way to handle the situation

After A4 protests, the government couldn't contain the virus unless they are willing to put in place a lockdown for many places for a few weeks. Given such lockdowns would invite more protests and sabotages, it probably would be better off for lifting most restrictions especially Chinese New Year is on the corner.

Politically, it probably is a wise move as the A4 protests are just getting started. Most protests are still confined and only some protests call for resignation of Xi and down with CPC. But protests are spreading and it wouldn't take much to incite more people to join the protests.

Sadly, more deaths would have been avoided if the reopening would proceed according to the March and April reopening. Government isn't ready and well prepared. However, most elderly would still refuse to be vaccinated until the last minute. Hong Kong is the prime example as most elderly didn't vaccinate until the massive outbreak which is too late for some. Although vaccination rollout before reopening should still save life.
