so how long China can continue with its zero covid policy? few more years, decade? at this point covid will become endemic, every year there probably gonna by some xyz mutation somewhere. which country still has zero covid policy other than china, seem like china is only one left.
I basically summarized my perspectives of the Chinese government’s potential objectives several weeks ago:
Here are the musts from the looks of it:
1. Anti viral drugs and maybe even antibody cocktails need to be ready to be manufactured on a massive scale to quickly fight off infection.
2. Develop advanced domestic vaccines for self-suffiency. So, no Pfizer/Fosun or Moderna for the time being.
3. Wait for certain variables used in virology to determine if the virus has reached the endemic stage.

The one below is not stated, but I believe they are looking into it as Western scientists are extremely alarmed by it:
4. Really understand long Covid. I'm sure the Chinese are aware of it via international research publications.

All of them will take a long time. Fortunately, like I said before, China can take the hits from the temporary lockdowns. They just need to tighten up the loose ends.
Until then,

I know one Shanghainese lady who married one of my friend who is a Canadian-Chinese (who is also anti-China) who is very anti-CPC. They married last year around summer time. I discussed in amazement with them how China managed to control the spread of Covid-19 and prevent the catastrophic Chinese death if the government was negligent in their duties and responsibilities like all western based systems did. The Chinese-Canadian idiot shook his head and expressed his doubts about the number of cases not being reported so I had to destroy that nonsense. At that time I wasn't aware that his soon to be wife was also a virulent anti-CPC western loving person. While she did concede that China handled the covid-19 well, she still thinks that China isn't being served well by the party because you know, no freedom, and it's not under western style democracy. She also mentioned that she backpack throughout China, which led me to ask her if she had the chance to visit Xinjiang province. She said she did, and then I asked her what's her take on the western accusations of Uyghur internment camp, genocide accusations. She unsurprisingly said that those Uyghurs aren't Chinese and Xinjiang should be allowed to cesede. At this point of the conversation I couldn't hold my acid tongue anymore so I more or less interrogated/debated/corrected her surprisingly piss poor knowledge of Chinese history.

I flat out told her that Xinjiang has been a part and parcel of China since the time of the Tang dynasty and while the Uyghurs aren't "Han" Chinese they are still Chinese since China has 56 or so different ethnic group and even the last dynasty of China wasn't under Han Chinese but Manchurians/Jurchens. Additionally, the Xinjiang region wasn't an exclusively Islamic religion, Buddism used to be the major religion of the region up until the expansion of Islamic influence later on....

Then asked her if the modernization of the Chinese juggernaut economy was facilitated and made possible by the CPC and if she's that enamored with democracy she ought to properly compare China to that of India and see the results. By comparing China to the U.S. who's modernization, industrialization happened 100 years prior to China, not to mention it got free labour (from black slaves, Irish, Chinese) made that country's path to prosperity all but assured since it has also decided to liquidate the original natives that has lived in America for centuries prior to Columbus discovery.

At this point she shut the f... up along with her idiot of a husband.

You sir are a legend, you bitch slapped them good...

How about a million years? I always find MSM and some Westerners seem to view things as black and white. It is a good way to depict China as inflexible.

China already said they are waiting for better treatments, vaccines, and understanding of the virus. One thing they are looking at is contagious of the virus and the concern that hospitals would be overwhelmed. So they are looking for new vaccines that have good efficacy rate.

No matter how transmissible COVID gets, it is not sorcery; it obeys the laws of physics. Virus particles cannot magically materialize in someone's throat, it must still be passed from one infected individual to another. The current Shanghai, Jilin and Hong Kong outbreaks are the result of incompetent governance - not a failure of China's tried and tested dynamic zero policy, which has protected the nation for two years and counting. The dozens of Chinese cities we don't hear about (precisely because they have successfully implemented zero COVID) is a testament to that.

I never understood the boba libs, they go over to the Americas/Australia where the westerners has really genocide the natives, stole all their land/resources, and currently have the remaining groups living in barren desserts... then complain about Xinjiang...
