Me first is an US thing.
Tit-for-tat is for normal man.
What the Volksrepublik is proposing now, is "the Community of Humanity with a Shared Destiny".

Chinese will officially offer aid to US, that's for everything the human should stand for.

Although by my own perspective, the aid to US should be lesser and later than those to:
Russia, Belarus, Japan, S.Korea (for the abundunce and urgency of their aid),
Pakistan, Comoro Islands, Vanuatu, many African states etc. (for their sincerity within their help),
every other country who send help to China(at least they gave something China need).

As for whether the US gov would accept the offer, or how would the media depict it, that's a story for another day, but I don't hold any optimistic expectation on that.

btw:
The country deserves a harsh payback is not US, but India.
The US, despite a big fat 0 offcial aid, despite all those politics and trade bullshit, at least remains basic humanitarian for not to block donations from individual, company and NGO.
Things India gov did simply exposed what pure evil means.

What have the Indians done ?

I am aware of 3 Indian researchers published a paper linking the Covid-19 virus gene sequence to SARS virus, and had to withdraw their article a few days later. But it started the Indian media, and later Western media, spinning the conspiracy theory that Covid-19 virus was created by the Wuhan lab.

What else have they done to deserve your comment ?

About face masks, yes, wearing face masks WILL protect you IF you know how to properly handle a face mask. Otherwise, you will actually have more virus on your face with a mask than without.

Firstly, the face mask should fit your face properly. Medical personnel typically needs to have their face masks pre-fitted to ensure that the face mask fit their faces perfectly. Wearing a "leaky" mask is no good.

Secondly, you must be properly trained to know how to put on a mask and how to take off a mask. A strict procedure should be followed. For a lay person without proper training, he/she will inadvertently get all the material stuck on the outside of the mask on their faces and hands. When they touch their eyes, nose and mouth with their hands, guess what will happen?

Washing hands is actually more effective.

For medical personnel, their potential exposure to viruses is a lot more extensive. Patients might bleed, puke, cough and sneeze directly at the docs and nurses when they are literally a few inches away from the patients. They have been properly trained to know how to handle face masks. Indeed, about 10 minutes ago, I just got an email from my med school that all clinicians need to: (1) get a refresher training on how to handle face masks, (2) get their face masks properly pre-fitted. Even professional clinicians must be trained again for proper handling of their face masks. Just imagine the lay people...

You phrase it as if people who wore masks are not also washing their hands..
you must be properly trained to know how to put on a mask and how to take off a mask
Well how difficult is that? 5 mins video about the SOPs, maybe less? This is still not an excuse to discourage people from getting face masks, which unsurprisingly a lot of governments have done. Face masks help, and using it properly shouldn't be a problem for anyone. All these discussions about face masks being useless and unnecessary are coming from countries that can't supply its people with it, hence the excuses.

AMERICA HAS 30 MILLION MASKS, NEEDS 300 MILLION FOR HEALTH CARE WORKERS FIGHTING CORONAVIRUS, HHS SECRETARY SAYS

Like what Solarz said in post #1781, US officials are very good at spinning their incompetency and failure into a nice policy statement.
Americans are hilarious. "Stop buying up all the face masks; you don't need them and they won't protect you! Especially because we're short and healthcare workers need 300 million masks to protect them!" LOL If a Chinese government official was caught telling the public to stop protecting themselves to save the resources so they can be given to others deemed more important, that guy's whole life/world/universe would be over in a Wechat share.

They don't people to start hoarding face masks in order to resale it at much higher price due to the demands. I believe it's already too late for that.

To be fair the Chinese government did (somewhat belatedly) say that N95 masks should be reserved for healthcare workers and government officials caught wearing N95 will be swiftly disciplined. Even Xi Jinping wore an ordinary surgical mask when he toured a clinic in Beijing.
