I see what some are saying but look at for example the current situation in Iran. At least part of the reason why the death rate of COVID19 is so high there can be attributed directly to US political and economy sanctions broadly and medical sanctions more specifically. Under the circumstances Pompeo should be making an exception and lifting the medical sanctions, if not to help the affected people of Iran then at least to curb the rate of spread to other parts of the world. What happened to the mantra of "hate the government, not the people"...? Actions speaks louder than words and the US gov hasnt lived up to its creed yet expects perfection from China in this regard when it has made it clear it views China as a geopoliticial foe and strategic adversiary... Self preservation is most important here and China shouldnt be bending over backwards to help the people of any country that whose government by their actions seek to threaten or harm China.

Also, the slow response to COVID in the US puzzles me in that Im not sure if its simply the same indifferent attitude US applied to the Swine Flu outbreak, and thus genuine unpreparedness, or if something else is going on here. Maybe they calculated given the fact that US is a lot more population sparse compared to China, and on average most Americans have a lot less ACE2 receptors compared to Chinese ethnic people, and given US is more heavily service/consumer based economy, that it would net benefit America on the whole to just largely ignore COVID, and let it burn itself out naturally....instead of causing panic and risking further harming economy by doing lockdowns that might not even work etc

BEIJING, March 3 (Xinhua) -- Chinese health authority said Tuesday it received reports of 125 new confirmed cases of novel coronavirus infection and 31 deaths on Monday on the Chinese mainland.

All the deaths were in Hubei Province, according to the National Health Commission.

Meanwhile, 129 new suspected cases were reported, said the commission.

Also on Monday, 2,742 people were discharged from hospital after recovery, while the number of severe cases decreased by 304 to 6,806.

The overall confirmed cases on the mainland had reached 80,151 by the end of Monday, including 30,004 patients who were still being treated, 47,204 patients who had been discharged after recovery, and 2,943 people who had died of the disease.

The commission said that 587 people were still suspected of being infected with the virus.

The commission added 40,651 close contacts were still under medical observation. On Monday, 7,650 people were discharged from medical observation.

By the end of Monday, 100 confirmed cases including two deaths had been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), 10 confirmed cases in the Macao SAR, and 41 in Taiwan, including one death.

Thirty-six patients in Hong Kong, eight in Macao and 12 in Taiwan had been discharged from hospital after recovery.

Just came across this research paper. From my layman's understanding, they seem to be saying that the virus may not have originated in Wuhan, and may in fact have come from elsewhere, and was already circulating widely among humans in Wuhan in December 2019.

Anyone with greater expertise in this area care to comment?

How many people did he interact with on those shifts? How many of those people are now running around all over the city?

I hope everyone in that tower is now in self-isolation, but I highly doubt it.

I just watched John Oliver's show that was mentioned earlier in this thread. A part of brainwashing is redefining the definition of words. There was that clip on his show where FOX News had some pundit that seemed like a doctor where he says only in a dictatorship would allow someone to eat bats. So the people who want to restrict what you can eat are against dictatorships...? See... don't think and that 10 X 10 cell you're living in is all the freedom in the world.

I am baffled by the US government advices on face mask.

He is the higest ranking American doctor. He claimed that face masks are no good for the general public in preventing COVID-19. He tweeted :
"They are NOT effective in preventing general public from catching #Coronavirus, but if healthcare providers can't get them to care for sick patients, it puts them and our communities at risk!"

He is asking the American public to stop buying masks so that healthcare providers can get them. This is due to a shortages of masks in America. How is it that masks are necessary for healthcare providers to protect themselves while the same masks are not effrective in preventing the public from catching the virus? Doesn't every American have the same right to protect themselves? Now I know America is compeletely unprepaired. Not only masks but test-kits are also scarce and take a long time to get results.
