Based on more than three million nose and throat swabs taken across Britain, the Oxford University study found that 90 days after a second shot of the Pfizer or Astrazeneca vaccine, their efficacy in preventing infections had slipped to 75% and 61% respectively.

That was down from 85% and 68%, respectively, seen two weeks after a second dose. The decline in efficacy was more pronounced among those aged 35 years and older than those below that age.

I'm ethnically Chinese, born in Vietnam but living in Cambodia. So what I do care about is: the world as a whole, China, Vietnam and Cambodia for particular.

Vietnam has surpassed 10,000 daily cases today. It has locked down over one month and will continue to do so for another month until Sep 15. For the past month of lockdown, daily cases just doesn't go down. I don't know what they have done wrong. For compare, Cambodia, which supposed to have inferior health system, has done a much better job to contain the virus with daily case drop to 500+ as of today.

Cambodia has 46% of its population fully vaccinated while Vietnam has 1.5%.

Vietnam wanted to wait for Western vaccines while Cambodia took whatever vaccine was available.

The reasons why Cambodia has done better than Vietnam are due to vaccinations(Cambodia has much higher vaccination rate than Vietnam and also Australia which also has a great difficulty to tame the recent outbreak.), acting too late to prevent an outbreak as the government was preocuppied with the economy resulted in massive numbers of cases which overwhelmed the hospitals. Consequently, Vietnam can't no longer isolating every individuals that contracted the virus and doing contact tracing is next to impossible which allowed the community spread to continue indefinitely.

@subdivide yes Cambodia had done good , bravo to Hun Sen and its gov't. @SteelBird bro your gov't early action is bearing fruits, we had the same chance when the Chinese offer a clinical trial of SinoPharm last Sept 2020, remember the controversy it create when the Presidential guards was inoculated without a FDA approval, the public uproar led by the opposition and wanted to impeach Duterte for breaking the law , the bureaucratic inertia that followed, now we had to wait in a long queue instead of having the vaccine. People should be persecuted for acting against public interest for pure personal gain, one of those is DOH secretary Duque , the head of the FDA, the opposition party and not the least the Western Pharma.

Here we see an example of difference in pandemic handling causing material difference in supply chain.

Yep, people like @Phead128 argue that China's anti-Covid policy would hurt economically. Yet here's an example where that policy actually helps a lot, and is better morally anyway. So what does @Phead128 say now?

Your article (and the original

) cites the inferiority (or short-supply) of Vietnamese engineering talent, coupled with difficulty of Chinese engineering talent to visit Vietnam on business visas (due to highly restricted inter-border travel restrictions between Vietnam/China) as the the primary reason for retaining production of 'new products' in China temporarily.

It continues to says Apple still plans 20% of AirPod production to move to Vietnam, and even says "We don't think the Vietnamese government will adopt such strict measures for very long, otherwise it will affect its own economy and its rising manufacturing prowess". The two articles does state that China's supply chain is superior to rest of the world, so it make sense to temporarily retain production there when border travel is so difficult.

TLDR: The article mentions nothing about domestic pandemic handling, but temporary inter-border travel restrictions of Chinese engineering talent to Vietnam and lack of Vietnamese engineering resources for 'new product' developments.

I see you answered the original comment. The bottom line is, Apple will make 80% of its AirPod 3s in China.

You say the reason it's not 0% is due to Vietnam stopping the entry of some engineers from China. If as you recommend China opened up and had more Covid-19 cases, do you think Vietnam would welcome more Chinese engineers -- or less?

I say less, meaning that Apple would shift even more production back to China. Therefore this case still shows why China's anti-Covid program is actually beneficial economically (and anyway is better morally), despite your claims.

Ralph Barrett, who in all likelihood created SARS-Cov-2 in a bioweapons lab in Fort Detrick was also jumping on the USG propaganda campaign of accusing WIV as creating COVID.

One day, when the truth comes out, probably after a world war, ppl like ralph barrett and his team are going to be hauled before an international tribunal for crimes against humanity.
