I'm not sure what is the Patriots involvement except the vaccines were being delivered on their plane. I didn't catch anything that said the Patriots bought the vaccine for PR/humanitarian purposes so they flew their own jet to China to pick up the vaccines to then fly them to El Salvador...? I saw an article from Quartz to how China has fallen short in helping Africa. Yes again the Western tactic of point the finger at someone else to cover up your own failures. Yes a lot of lying coming out of the US and Great Britain how each individually claim how wonderful they are for saving the world from COVID.

There was an old story when the pandemic was beginning to get out of control in America in the spring of 2020 and no one could find PPE gear.

One story had someone in the Patriots organization know someone, who then arranged the flight to China to pickup that PPE gear.

Seems to me that this is the same type of task, using the idle corporate jet to do important humanitarian work.

Just a sign of the times where they would still bitch about the photo-op, and not say how they worked together to try to help.

Oh gosh I hope he knows what he's doing and those countries pay it back in one way or another instead of turning coat after every election. Lots of poor Chinese kids could have taken that for scholarship money or started businesses with it. You could start a tech University with it. It could have bought the air force ~30 J-20 stealth fighters. I'm salivating thinking about all the things that China could buy for $3B for itself and its citizens. I'm all for donating obsolete crap you'd be retiring anyway but this is giving away the living room coach while members of your family are still having to sit on the floor. But I have faith in the CCP that they did right...
Nothing can replace the good economy China enjoys right now though. 3 billion is peanuts compared to the economic losses that'd have happened if the CPC slipped in handling it. Imagine the billions India is losing every day (as real time GDP as well as future contracts).

Consider 3 billion a small cost for diplomatic and geopolitical image building.

Hope they get those dividends, but in the end, China must be a power known for its strength and competence, not for being the global Santa giving away its wealth for temporary friendships. But Xi knew that before getting into this so we'll see.

Yup, and I hope it works. I hope they don't take it, walk away with a thanks, change leaders and forget it ever happened. I hope and I trust that Xi and his men know what they are doing.

I suspect the aid will be in the form of infrastructure building, such as roads, hospitals, ports and airports. Things that will generate economic value regardless of the government in charge.

That's what's so appealing about the US because the US makes other countries believe that you're up there with the elite countries if you follow the US. Yes very appealing to status hungry Asians. For one to believe they're elite, they have to believe they're never wrong and always rights. And because of that when they are found to be wrong or have made mistakes, they quickly have to blame it on someone else or another country.

That's why I think it is premature to declare victory against covid-19. CDC advised of going maskless is just reckless.

Fantastic! They're in a dilemma now, reopening is so hyped up with so much of the public looking forward to it, if cancelled or delayed, there will be riots with some folks going absolutely nuts.

But if they continue with the reopening, the Indian mutated virus will spread faster than a wild fire. Should be fun to watch especially since so many yellow cockroaches/terrorists from HK are over there.

like I said in another post: every aid program has a geopolitical agenda.

Yep. You can make sure that China will make this 3 billion dollars aid to go to her friends, for infrastructure involving Chinese companies, BRI etc

I also agree that a targeted 3 billion investment internally would make wonders

For example 5 billion (6?) is the required budget for building the Chinese particle accelerator which would draw a significant portion of Particle Physicists from the world to China thus contributing to the "Scientific Powerhouse" goal that Xi has set for China

Money is always limited and I hope that China will make every cent from that foreign aid to go towards China's interest
