Rostec will test the PD-35 aircraft engine early next year.

Testing of the fifth-generation full-size turbojet engine PD-35 is scheduled for early 2024. In Russia, aircraft engines of this size and power have not yet been produced - the fan diameter is 3.1 meters, the thrust is 35 tons.

These power plants are created by the subsidiary of the United Engine Corporation - ODK-Aviadvigatel.

In October, the first tests of the gas generator of the PD-35 aircraft engine took place. The tests were carried out under conditions simulating the operation of a full-size motor and showed good agreement between the obtained parameters of the gas generator and the design data.

Well, since Russia is out of the C929 and I don't think the PD-35 will be a realistic option for it when it enters service, should this be better posted just in the Russian news section?

In that case, what's the current progress on China's side, i.e. the CJ2000/AEF3500?

i have discuss many times about CJ-2000 in Engine thread.

CJ-2000 progress is actually faster than CJ-1000. just few years behind from its predecessor CJ-1000.

in March, 2020 its core engine was successfully ignited and achieved a rapid operation of 1.0. During the subsequent ignition test process, the maximum speed reached 100.6% of the predetermined value. The core engine performed very stably throughout the experiment, with no abnormal signs such as surge, which also indicates that the development of the engine is going well.

Zhuhai Air Show 2021, AECC released the promotional video of CJ-2000 engine for the very first time and in that video they officially announced 2030 date. high chances this is certification date. and this is the first time Chinese aero engine maker publicly announced timeline of an Engine. here is the screenshot..

some key points from this video.
FAOjQzIVUAcRvj4.jpg
Maximum Thrust will be 78,000 lbf.
Front Fan diameter will be 3+m
Full sized composite fan blades
Full composite casing
Integrated manufacturing of large size drum shafts and powder trays
Fourth Generation powder alloy , High pressure turbine secondary disc tailgate

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

in summer last year, engine has entered the low-voltage component telemetry system hardware configuration bidding stage. In other words, CJ-2000 has entered the verification machine bench test stage. This is the most critical step for aero engines!

Verification of machine testing completed too.

I don't quite understand, what has the GEnX engine at the end of your post have to do with CJ-2000.

Nothing sir. CJ-2000 could be look like this. that's why i attached GEnX picture with this post.

Could be useful in future to specify it. I assumed that's probably what you intended, but something like "This is GEnX -- CJ-2000 may have a similar appearance to it when it emerges" could have rounded out your post which was otherwise useful.

That said, as far as CJ-2000's progress is concerned, while I agree that it very well may be making good progress behind the scenes (building on CJ-1000A and WS-20 before it as other high bypass turbofans in terms of technology but also in terms of program management), I think we very much require some more definitive and clear cut milestones being shown to us if we want to confidently remark as to how its progress is going.

all these CJ-2000 progress info come out through magazines and public reports. AECC didn't disclose exact progress of CJ series. maybe in near future they disclose some information regarding CJ-2000 project progress.
