Maybe this is exclusive for the up and coming Chinese built ports which can be designed to handle the ships and the new Arctic shipping route which is not only shorter but not constrained by geography as well but rather the size of the ice breaker instead.

This will make Chinese built ports even more attractive and maybe even fund a Chinese infrastructure project to widen the Suez, though this is something much more into the future.

As the article notes, these mega containerships will be for the Asia-Europe trade.

Rotterdam says it is already capable of handing 30,000 TEU containerships below

Something amazing is happening in the cruise ship industry in China with the launch of Adora Magic City.

Full capacity of passengers for every trip. Forty-two percent of all cruise tourists embarking from China are carried by the Adora Magic City.

Profitability came within second month of operations instead of 18 months like other cruiseships in more mature markets!

Bodes well for the second Chinese made cruise ship entering the market in a few years. This is pretty much a brand new industry in China both in building cruise ships and in serving customers with them.
