Vanchip with some good news on 2023
Please, Log in or Register to view URLs content!

2023 revenue up 28.8% YoY
profit up 77.93%

Again, really good when considering that first half was still week

says L-PAMiD sales with several domestic phone companies is a big part of this improvement

5G product now over 50% of PA product revenues

Making big progress in Wifi-6/6E products. Starting to sell Wifi 7 products

Back in 2021, China's mobile PA purchases totally 20B with oversea supplier taking up 70% and Vanchip taking up 15%. Other 15% split among Maxscend, OnMicro and several others

Maxscend did well on LNA and switches.

Looks like after some de-stocking, Chinese RF players doing bett

Newsonic has started construction in a new fab for RF filters. I believe it actually might be doing BAW filter, at least on the lower frequency side.

It is looking to achieve yearly product of 3.6B filters once htis is completed. IIRC, they actually had SMEC fabbing their filters before. So, they are transitioning from fabless to fab-lite

Looking at the graph, last year China fabs imported a record number of litho machines, more than 2 times of 2022. This should be enough for the whole 2024...while SMEE moves from pre-production to mass production...

If you look at the graph carefully, it looks like China imported $7 Bn of lithography machines in 2023. That looks like 3x the 2022 figure.

The technology node reaches 28nm, and the Luxin Semiconductor mask production project starts

On January 19, the mask production project of Jiangsu Luxin Semiconductor Technology Co., Ltd. laid the foundation stone and started construction. The project is built in Suzhou Industrial Park with a planned investment of 2 billion yuan and covers an area of 74 acres. After completion, it will have an annual production capacity of approximately 35,000 semiconductor masks and is expected to achieve mass production .The project is constructed in two phases. The first phase plans to produce node masks of 45nm and above; the second phase plans to produce node masks of 28nm and above.

The products can be widely used in high-performance computing, artificial intelligence, mobile communications, smart grids, Many industries such as high-speed rail transit and new energy vehicles involve integrated circuit semiconductor chip manufacturing and packaging.Masks are core materials in the upstream of the semiconductor industry. Their quality and accuracy directly affect the performance and reliability of semiconductor products. Due to high technical barriers, my country's 130nm and below process node masks are still basically dependent on imports. The project is expected to provide localized support for key upstream materials for the domestic semiconductor industry .

Luxin Semiconductor was founded in Suzhou Industrial Park in May 2023, focusing mask production for 28nm, 45nm and above nodes. The company's core team all come from leading semiconductor companies and industries. They have deep professional accumulation and senior industry experience, and have core technical capabilities and operational levels in the entire process of product development, manufacturing, and quality control. It is reported that the park where the project is located was recognized as one of the first batch of national integrated circuit industrial parks in 2005. It has now formed a core industry of "chip design-wafer manufacturing-packaging and testing" and is supported by equipment, raw materials and service industries. The entire integrated circuit industry chain. Aibang has established an IGBT/SiC power semiconductor industry chain exchange group. The members of the group include upstream and downstream companies in the power semiconductor industry chain. Welcome to scan the following QR code to join the exchange group and address book.

This is freaking huge if true. Sorry for the Chinese voice. Hope those who are interested can find a translation program. The author is credible. I am not saying he is always on the money. But he is a serious and informed author.

His main point in this video is that there is going to be a bloodbath of 14nm/28nm/40nm from newly added Chinese domestic fabs starting from 2024 (it is already happening). The pricing of those "old" capacity is crashing. Domestic 7nm is scaling well.

Some of us may have predicted or expected similar scenarios in this forum. But it is still surreal or even shocking when this is actually happening. Production above (and including) 7nm is going to be MIC in the coming years. I have no idea how the industry is going to cope. And rumored SMIC N+3 5nm is going for Mate 70 Pro in Sept 2024 ......

Are there any other domestic competitors of this?

I thought there were other ones

Lmaoo ig metal, ver.di and every union in Deutschland will go crazy over TSMC "working ethic".
Would it be that much different in terms of job expectations then the engineers and technicians who run auto plants? Those operate 24/7/365 except for planned maintenance or retooling and those staff have to be on call at crappy hours to troubleshoot issues on the lines, with lifting of heavy things, etc. Those expectations are par for the course in big volume manufacturing so as long as the expectations are defined and compensation is commiserate, I don't see a reason to object.
