SMIC I heard has alot of Taiwanese influence and atmosphere in it's working environment.

If SMIC going to supply Huawei regardless then this move would be unnecessary. This move only means it will abide US law.

@foofy bro, what course of action SMIC will follow? from my understanding that ministry order you posted maybe the reason for the American semiconductor association to seek a summit meeting with their Chinese counterparts?

My guess is second half of this year SMIC will abide China law and produce for Huawei. Because global chips shortage, America will not ban SMIC to produce for foreign companies, but will stop shipping American equipment to SMIC. SMIC will be forced to use domestic equipment.

Can someone explain why China is funding Japanese owned IP IC companies to set up shop in China when Japan is the Quad and it is constantly saying that China presents a "technological challenge" and at some point at the future they will ban Japanese IP used in China?

Is it so difficult to make laws and regulations that say if you dont export IP to local partners in China you dont get subsidies?

For that to work, Huawei, as the one who suffers damage, has to initiate the lawsuit.

But it's not doing it. Even thought law came out, theres nothing happen.

TSMC has very long relationship with Huawei. Yet it stopped supplying Huawei.

There are many others still stop supplying Huawei and nothing happen to them under this Chinese law.

If Huawei not willing to do anything, then this law is rather useless.

If Huawei doesn't come out to challenge SMIC , SMIC probably will tell Huawei it's waiting for US approval. Still waiting would be the excuse.
