I think 7nm probably imminent.

Chinese people are greedy. This is all about first mover advantage.

Who gets to 7nm inside China first, grabs the entire market.

It does not matter what kind of equipment they used, sanctioned or not sanctioned. Who gets there first gets the entire China market for 7nm, sanctions are tomorrow's problem. Getting there first is today's problem.

They will make those workers and engineers work 48 hours per day to arrive there first.
The one urgently need 7nm production is Huawei. But SMIC won't do it without US approval even if it get a hold of those equipments and materials. Others not under sanction so they can use Samsung or TSMC.
Short term getting a hold of 7nm won't change China too much. Domestic tech ology is the key in changing China..

Huawei can do all those things, helping raising pigs and fish with IoT, big data and AI solutions is more the software side of things. It can also help them optimize and expand their cloud services. As you can see globally its the software not the hardware that makes the money or the sale. Just look at the pixel phones from google, sub par hardware paired with super optimized software(This is what i expect from HarmonyOS).
Google have a global footprint. Huawei mainly domestic market and still not sure.

If it has a choice Huawei still rather make phones rather than raising pigs fishes. It does it because it has no choice.

I dont know why people assume that raising pigs and fishes is kinda bad and degrading for Huawei. Like what, China has huge problems trying to handle pigs and fishes, so Huawei stepping up will improve the lives of hundred of thousands of people or even more and help the industry become safe, healthy and solve national scale problems of the country providing it with tremendous export potential.
And this wont be low tech, it will be AI, face recognition (ahem, pig's face lol), big data, 5G, cloud services, IoT (Internet of Things), research into animal's biology and many more. Absolutely huge industry.

Imagine how many poor countries are in dire need to help manage diseases and health & safety issues on their animals.

Huawei is entering into a huge industry right now with big opportunities for growth and it could also easily enter chicken farms, cows, ducks and any other animal raising sector. Big big money here and there is not any shame for doing so, this will be hi-tech

I didn't say it's bad. I only said its not Huawei first option. A company only has so many resources.

But it was coming after Huawei phone sale plummet.

There's fishing, pig , coal mining and EV car making. Keep on coming. Maybe you will hear more as times go by.
I am sure you would think they are all very good. Alots of money to be made.
Barrier to entry is low. Alot of players can come to join the party too.

Just shows how well Huawei understands how to capitalize on the 5g revolution.

Just like a few decades ago, people made fun of a company that ran an online bookstore that eventually grew to be the largest and most dominant tech company in the US.

Which company would China wants?
Amazon or ASML ? Revenue wise no comparison. But Amazon tech cannot used to sanction China
End of day, fundamental science is what matters not applications
That's why US doesn't really care Baidu, Alibaba, tencent.. all their big data , AI is no biggie.
Pig, fish, coal are auxiliary helping Huawei bottomeline while focusing on its long term goal. It's destiny is to bring China semiconductor to the promised land.

Agree with what you are saying. Like to add something else.

The semiconductor is just the same as what Huawei 5G equipment is.

The semiconductor by itself, is useless. Put the semiconductor inside a robot or computer, then it becomes immensely useful.

The Huawei 5G equipment does not do much by itself, but handle the IP protocols. Put those IP protocols to good use like controlling the robot or remote access the computer, then it becomes immensely useful.

The manufacture of a semiconductor, it is not an end in itself, it is a means to an end.

The installation of Huawei 5G equipment, it is not an end in itself, it is a means to an end.

That way both are the same.

Huawei 5G will be spawning worldwide now with different apps to all industrial processes, such as manufacturing, construction, industrial farming. All based on their equipment. Huawei 5G got there first, enjoying first mover advantage, they are ahead of all competitors and will reap the sales all these services apps, along with ongoing service contracts.

Huawei 5G equipment, it was just a means to an end.

We are mentioning Amazon and ASML. Kind of obvious Huawei intends to be both at the same time, figuratively speaking.

We are reaching the end game here for Huawei 5G.

:)

It looks like Apple makes the most money, more than ASML and TSMC, both of which trounce Apple in technology.

On the flip side, what happen if Huawei finds life in raising pig, fish , coal mining is much easier . Much less headache. Ren is into his 70s. Don't know how many more years he have left.
What if the remaining crew in Huawei rather make a living with less steess than on a mission? I lol. That's unknown.
By nature every one wants to do easy things. Easy money can sap away one' s original tough goal

Apple might make the most money but which company is the most critical for national security? If China had Apple and it had the option to change it with ASML then the CCP would do it without hesitation.

Who cares about money? China has money but throwing money into the air itself doesn't do.anything. So access to technology is more.important than money
