I follow Sai Micro closely and they have now started low rate production of MEMS accelerometer in their Beijing fab

These MEMS often have very important roles or very critical place in various devices like BAW filters for 5G phones
So always interesting for me to see when they are able to start production of a new type of MEMS.

This particular one is for detection micro vibration, shock measurement.

赛微电子:激光雷达是实现L4/L5级别智能驾驶技术的核心传感器;公司将生产制造的MEMS振镜晶圆交付给客户,由客户形成激光雷达产品后再供应给汽车厂商;当前市场上搭载激光雷达的车型较多,包括探测距离、点频、角分辨率、FOV、测距精度、测距准度等具体的激光雷达参数(进而传导至MEMS振镜性能参数及使用数量)取决于下游汽车厂商具体车型的指定要求。

so BA filter already used on phones (Huawei phones pretty clear here) and produced in partnership with Memsonic and can be used in many places. Can be used for Xiaomi, Vivo & Oppo in the future.
MEMS Lidar also a growth area for MEMS product
Again, keep in mind that without BAW filter getting ramped up, HW 5G phones can't happen

basically 8-inch substrate production has started at its Hunan plant. which will supply the Chongqing factory.

It's 1200V Sic wafers are going through validation or going into production

But that doesn’t mean the move went over well: A group of Dutch politicians, including lawmakers from two parties in the ruling coalition, called for their government to take a stand against the new US measures.

“Unilaterally changing the rules during a contest where competitiveness and strategic autonomy are at stake is difficult to accept, even by a good ally,” said Dutch Christian Democrat lawmaker Mustafa Amhaouch earlier this week.

On the evening of October 24, SMIC announced that the company’s newly established joint venture Xinlian Power Technology (Shaoxing) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Xinlian Power”) has completed the industrial and commercial registration procedures with a registered capital of 500 million yuan. Xinjie invested 255 million yuan and became the controlling shareholder of Xinlian Power.

It is understood that Xinlian Power is a one-stop system solution provider for automotive-grade silicon carbide (SiC) manufacturing and module packaging. SMIC is currently one of the few companies in China that can achieve large-scale silicon carbide MOS mass production, and its shipments of automotive-grade silicon carbide MOS products are significantly ahead in the country.

The lineup of founding shareholders of Xinlian Power can be said to be star-studded. In addition to SMIC, Shangqi Capital and Hengxu Capital are industrial investment platforms under SAIC Motor (600104), Xpeng Star Capital is an industrial investment subsidiary of Xpeng Motors, and Ningde Morning Road Investment is the investment platform of CATL (300750), Li Ling Fund is the family office of Luxshare Precision (002475), Boyuan Capital is the investment platform of Bosch, and Sungrow (300274) is the leading domestic photovoltaic company.

They have plans for 360k 6-inch wafers a year and 61m power modules, to be complete by 2025.

Along with Sanan, Sinopack's affiliate 国联万众 and Accopower (芯聚能) have all qualified with their sic modules.

Yet, western chipmakers also have these huge growth plans based on renewable and ev demand. where is the optimism coming from?

The expectation is a huge amount of the existing automobile fleet will move towards EVs. It is also likely SiC would be used in electric chargers and like.

oh I know what they are banking on, but I also know how much growth is coming in terms of SiC substrate market

EsseRBAF, the rule-based auxiliary graphics tool of National Microchip Optical Proximity Correction Platform​


As the complexity of modern chip design increases and the feature size shrinks, the distribution pattern of the layout becomes more irregular, and the process window of photolithography will also become narrower. The process window refers to the allowable deviation range of exposure (EL) and focal plane position (DoF) under the condition of meeting imaging accuracy.
Theoretical and experimental results show that EL and DoF suitable for dense patterns are not suitable for the exposure of sparse patterns, which leads to the problem of shrinking the common process window .
In order to expand the process window and improve imaging accuracy, it is usually necessary to add some tiny patterns around the sparse mask patterns. The size of these patterns is smaller than the resolution of the photolithography machine. They will not be transferred to the photoresist during exposure. They only scatter light and enhance the resolution of the target pattern photolithography imaging. These tiny graphics are called sub-resolution assist graphics (SRAF, Sub-resolution Assist Feature).
