Both LAM and AMAT have a full range of products. They still sell new build 150 mm and 200 mm instruments and still invest in new tech for those wafer sizes, which usually are 90+ nm process nodes.
Ya totally agree. I was going through the Product Portfolio of both LAM and AMAT and amazed at how many varieties of CVD, PVD, Etching products they have. The Chinese competitors are still years away to match both LAM and AMAT I feel. AMAT specially, is truly a Juggernaut when it comes to SMEs

I think the way Chinese SMEs, parts and material companies are distributed really obscures people's perception of the Chinese semiconductor industry and that will lead to poor judgments. Many people in the semiconductor industry are accustomed to main players monopolies in the established supply chain but now a vacuum has formed in China that Chinese companies are trying to fill at a rapid pace and people cannot accept it.

We can admit that Naura and AMEC are giants in their own right, but there are very few segments in which you cannot find a Chinese company with a product in production, verification or development. From etching, deposition, oxidation, diffusion, CMP, ion implantation, coating and development, cleaning, metrology, packaging, etc., from mature nodes to advanced nodes, they are growing faster and faster. The vacuum just get wider and wider leaving more room for them to keep growing.
