Raimondo: we will dump prices chips... =))

U.S. Commerce Secretary Raimondo said on September 3 that the economic relationship between China and the United States is mutually beneficial, and open communication channels are the key to maintaining this relationship. In the field of semiconductors, Raimondo said that the United States will continue to export chips to China, but we won't sell the most advanced and powerful chips to China.

Then sell it to the Marines. ;)

I apologize if this has been mentioned before, but do we know if SMIC's N+2 process uses indigenous lithography systems?
NO it used ASML NXT 1980i or NXT 2000i. TSMC N7 the first generation 7nm was produced using NXT 1980i.

should be Sien. Mainly secondhand equipment. Founded by Ex SMIC CEO

The article "Research on 100 kHz Repetition Frequency Tin Droplet Target" submitted by the institute's team introduces the team's research progress on the tin droplet generator, a core component of the laser plasma extreme ultraviolet (LPP-EUV) lithography light source.

judging from the article, the current state of development is quite far from being commercialized. i wonder when they can achieve ASML level

At this point there are multiple EUV projects from CIOMP, SIOM and Tsinghua. There are rumours floating around that the first has a useable prototype that will be delivered in 2024.
Yes from our very own @olalavn, EUVL with LPP ;) what pique my interest is that the LPP will produced 400 watts the same output with the latest ASML HI NA EUVL.

Is SMIC's long-term plan to replace these ASML systems with domestic ones (SMEE)? How do they plan to scale their N+2 process if the US can easily prevent ASML from shipping these systems to SMIC?
