LMAO last year you guys were all panicking when CHIPS Act got passed.
Chinese lack confidence in themselves. We have been through worse, famines, 1980s import onslaught which destroyed so many companies, 1990s restructuring and mass retrenchment, what is there to fear anymore? Our civilization did not survive 5000 years for nothing, we have a survival instinct built in. We fight and fight and fight.

US media usually exaggerate their own initiative (e.g., CHIPS act) which predictably floundered (see TSMC fab delays, Intel layoffs/reduced capex, US revenues down) , and exaggerate China's collapse (e.g., 5G mobile blockade, DUV bans, memory bans) which unsurprisingly overcome by Huawei, SMEE, YMTC, and (inevitably) CAS for SSMB/LPP EUV.

Western news is generally misinformed. Even right now, the West copium is that Kirin 9000S fabbed by SMIC N+2 process only has <50% yield rates so it will be "AT WhaT CoST???" low profit, highly costly chips, whereas we know from reading this thread the yield is above >70% and higher, easily profitable. The next cope by saying Huawei phones has "limited appeal" outside China without Google Play store. HarmonyOS AppGallery can install any Google apps...every Android app is available, SMH. Too far gone...

Anyhow if they can keep this up, there perhaps won't be any greater corporate comeback story in history that I'm aware of.
They should make a movie/drama about Huawei overcoming the 5G mobile blockade by the West.

Then add sequel part 2 encore when China overcomes the EUV blockade as well. I'd totally watch this drama/documentary.

Dude, its the same thing every darn time. SDF Hyperventilation after a US sanction is always a staple of this forum

From last year
Here how it will go, I used my special powers and predicted the future so that people can finally stop worrying:
  • US announces new harsh sanctions on Chinese IC industry
  • SDF hyperventilation (current time, we are at this stage)
  • China's response will be hidden from plain sight
  • Chinese foreign spokesman/woman says "we urge the American side to change course or they will have to face the collective will of 1.4 billion Chinese people"
  • Global Times editorial "America shows its unreliability, domestic companies will benefit, US should focus on its own issues and stop worrying about China"
  • Xi-Biden meeting, China's foreign ministry statement, "Biden said he doesnt want a cold war, and he doesn't support Taiwan's independence". "Xi said he supports a win-win cooperative relationship with US and building a community with a shared future for mankind"
  • The entire West, social media, think tankers ridicule China for its weak/no response to US actions
  • SDF continues its hyperventilation
  • 2-3 years later, a report comes out from a random Western organisation, "China is actually winning the tech war and EUV machine is ready"
  • SDF relief, "we won, finally, the end!"
  • Some months later, the US announces new extremely harsh sanctions on an unrelated industry that China still heavily depends on the US.
  • SDF hyperventilation
  • REPEAT from stage 3

Not too long ago the western media smugly declared that Huawei is dead in the water, kaput. And it will take Chinese semi-eon to catch up. But. but Huawei is like the proverbial phoenix rising from the ashes Bloomberg picked up the news and I am looking forward to what is the Western media has to say tomorrow

(Bloomberg) -- Chinese technology shares surged Wednesday after Huawei Technologies Co. surprised investors by debuting a 6,999 yuan ($960) smartphone, buoying hopes for advances in domestic chip and mobile technology despite US sanctions.

The Mate 60 Pro device, which appeared this week for sale online with little warning, generated buzz among Chinese users who saw in the gadget Huawei’s resurgence in the high-end market. Many users posted messages describing its fast wireless performance, triggering speculation Huawei had managed to achieve 5G-capabilities despite being barred from top-of-the-line chipmaking and technology.

Chinese chip firms and Huawei suppliers including Lontium Semiconductor Corp., Cambricon Technologies Corp. and Anker Innovations Technology Co. climbed between 8% and 11%. Biwin Storage Technology Co. and Guangdong Leadyo IC Testing Co. surged their 20% daily limits.

someone on Bilibili called China Mobile to turn off 5G network access for their SIM card, and saw a sizable speed reduction (1/3 of the original speed) on their new Mate 60, providing more evidence that the Mate 60 Pro is indeed a 5G device. Interestingly enough, with 5G disabled on the network end, the Mate 60 status bar does show 4G.
