good news, Loongson 3A6000 completed taping out and its performance looks to be better than what was projected last year. Last year, it anticipated 45/35 score for SpecInt 2006 (float/Int)

It actually scored 54.6/43.1 for float/int in actual testing.

Now compared to Intel 10 in performance.

This will have to be the top performing domestic CPU outside of whatever Huawei develops

Comment:
When using the original heat sink, the SPEC CPU 2006 has a single core performance of 42.5/51.3 and a multi-core performance of 147/150, respectively. If using a better heat sink, it can be even stronger. As a comparison, Loongson 3A6000 has a single core of 43.1/54.6 and a multi-core of 155/140, which is indeed similar in level. (Please note that it does not limit the same frequency comparison at 2.5GHz)

The IPC of i3-10100F at 2.5GHz is 12.4/GHz, which will decrease even at better frequencies. The IPC of 3A6000 at 2.5GHz is slightly over 17/GHz.

Also, please note that different generations of i3, i5, and i7 may have significant performance differences due to different architectures (one generation per year, one architecture every two years), while the general generation CPU has the same architecture, and the single core performance differences are still concentrated in the main frequency and peripheral cache. So it is not advisable to talk about i5, i7 or similar topics without considering algebra.

Huawei should be ordered to return the stolen engineers instead of helping out SMEE with them. How could SMEE utilize those engineers when they are Huawei employees and they are going to go back to Huawei with everything they saw and heard in SMEE after all.
Well Bro all I can say is Huawei is the VANGUARD of Chinese chip development. There will be synergism among the Three (SMEE, SMIC & HUAWEI). Regarding Huawei poaching of SMEE engineer, maybe the urgency is a major factor and SMEE methodical approach may have spur Huawei to go at it alone. At the end of the day, Humility had set in after they realizing the technical difficulties it entails.

No one will buy a CPU with top speed of 2.5 G.

The purpose is not to replace Intel, AMD, and Apple right at this moment; it's to make incremental progress towards doing it in the future, and to make a back up plan in case the US imposes sanctions on high-end CPU sales (remember, it is about imposing costs, not air tight restrictions), which the US is just crazy enough to do, judging by recent political maneuvers.

Battered BUT still fighting that's the Huawei spirit, now after surviving the Long March they're on the attack, from my mentor and good friend @Oldschool

Finally Huawei is involved in DUV development. Currently there are over 300 Huawei engineers are in SMEE site to help out. For a long time, I have campaigned Huawei to acquired SMEE but initially Huawei wanted to develope on its own. In 2021, Huawei stole 130 engineers from SMEE and caused trouble in SMEE and finally government stepped in and Huawei had to make guarantee that it will not try to steal SMEE engineers again. Huawei finally realized it 's too difficult to do DUV on its own and its better to work with SMEE. Huawei's Ren went to SMEE and apologized to its president. and they worked out the plan and Huawei would send in their engineers to help out SMEE.

Also, Richard Chang convinced SMIC's Liang to fully to support SMEE lithography equipments,
at that time, Huawei had a strong light source for DUV and EUV.. they need good engineers... and they are testing that light source... this is from 2020

stop giving Huawei excuses

SMEE is not a big 3 in China.

hmm, nobody cares about clock speed. They care about whether the performance is good or not.

hmm, the purpose is to replace intel & AMD. What do you think the domestic procurement program is about? We should all be cheering for LS's success. And same with Kunpeng and others

If the i3-10th gen is accurate, it will be a fine machine for daily use for many people. The biggest problem is cost then available software/os and bulk. Lowly performing chromebooks with limited apps (they recently support linux and android via containers but eats up memory) have a 20% market share in the US. China will need to build its "chrome os" to get people to start buying into the Chinese ecosystem.
