Chinese firm expected to deliver 28nm chip machine at year-end: media report

This is generalist news site, but is also an official one so they don't publish a news like this just for fun or at random time. I don't know how to read this, what is the message they want to pass. Also if ASML is banned we can do without? Is this the message?

That was the question I was asking yesterday because it was posted on xinhua web. This was getting passed around then across all Chinese media. Is this some kind of signaling from Chinese officials due to the timing (right before start of Ga/Ge sanctions)? Is this because there has been a major breakthrough and they are going to be able to start production early next year? Is this something else? I don't think we can just pass this off as a nothing burger.

definitely some kind of messaging here

Anyways, good link here to read about RF chips. They have gotten steadily more complex over time to having 5G PAMID which integrates everything together. Requires high level design to achieve PAMID with satisfactory integration and power consumption. The trend has been for design shops to integrate more of the components together in 1 integrated module. QCOM even integrated it with 5G modem. So, this is the major key to enable 5G HW phones

I think the name SSA 800/10W is a misnomer because 10W represent the energy output of the laser and for this machine is expected to be like 60W so the machine will be called more like SSA800/60

I think I had may miss this one.

Tianren Micronano, the leader in nanoimprint lithography, has received tens of millions of strategic investment to accelerate the layout of the micronano optics market.

According to Memes Consulting, recently, Qingdao Tianren Micro-Nano Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Tianren Micro-Nano") announced the completion of the A-round financing of tens of millions of yuan, which was exclusively invested by SMIC. This round of financing will be used to accelerate the company’s research and development and layout of nanoimprinting equipment and solutions for micro-nano optics and other fields, improve after-sales services, and further expand its market leadership.
Since its establishment in 2015, Tianren Micro-Nano has become an international leading supplier of nanoimprinting equipment and solutions, with applications including 3D sensing (DOE, Diffuser, etc.), augmented reality and virtual reality (AR/VR), biochips , integrated circuits, flat panel displays, solar cells, LEDs and other fields. Relying on the world's leading innovative technology and equipment performance, perfect after-sales service, and rapid product iteration, and relying on the market opportunity of micro-nano optical wafer-level processing and production since 2018, Tianren Micro-Nano has accumulated a lot of knowledge, defeated many international competitors, and quickly Occupied more than 90% of the domestic market share, becoming the market leader in this field.

Tenren Micro-Nano will continue to be committed to the expansion of nanoimprint lithography in the field of wafer-level optical processing, accelerate the development and iteration of equipment and processes, and expand its leading advantages. At the same time, it will also expand nanoimprint in semiconductor integrated circuits, flat panel displays, Industrial applications in other fields such as biochips provide customers with more and more complete R&D and production solutions.

Sun Yuwang, founding partner and president of SMIC Juyuan, said: "Nanoimprinting is an ideal method for mass production of micro-nano optical devices. With the continuous development of 3D sensing, AR and other applications, nanoimprinting will usher in a golden age of rapid development. SMIC is optimistic about the years of accumulation of Tianren Micro-nano team in the nano-imprint industry. Tianren Micro-Nano has launched a variety of nano-imprint equipment suitable for different scenarios, forming an integrated platform for nano-imprint equipment and materials. , will help domestic nanoimprint equipment to break the import monopoly."

Dr. Ji Ran said: "I have been cultivating nanoimprinting technology for 20 years. No matter whether the market is hot or cold for this technology, I have persisted because I firmly believe that this technology will have a good application prospect. Keep this original intention and don't be greedy. Big and comprehensive, first do small and beautiful, be the invisible industry champion, carefully polish products, sincerely serve every customer, dig deep into the extreme in a technical field, and make our steadfast efforts for the development of China's micro-nano processing equipment industry. contribution, Tenren Micro-Nano can grow into an internationally competitive company in the future.”

No one will buy a CPU with top speed of 2.5 G.
My i5 runs at 2.3G. I usee it for photoshoping just fine.

Most people are not hardcore gamers. People buying top CPUs either really know what they are paying for, or are fooled by salesman in wasting their money. In most usages, high speed and large RAM, high speed SDD and high data throughput of bus are more worthy to pay for than CPU clock counts. CPU clock counts are ONLY good for computational intense work.

Well Bro all I can say is Huawei is the VANGUARD of Chinese chip development. There will be synergism among the Three (SMEE, SMIC & HUAWEI). Regarding Huawei poaching of SMEE engineer, maybe the urgency is a major factor and SMEE methodical approach may have spur Huawei to go at it alone. At the end of the day, Humility had set in after they realizing the technical difficulties it entails.
Personally I am never a fan of Huawei's behaviour or corporate culture. I only defended Huawei when as a Chinese company it was abused by US, otherwise I am often against Huawei due to its over aggressiveness towards every supplier and competitor especially when the receiving end is Chinese supplier and competitors.

Huawei's behaviour is like a super warlord, kill everyone and take all. It is desirable when the country nees to be unified (such as Qin Shihuang). It is destructive once the country is already unified (such as An Lushan). Its hyper competitiveness if not restrained is going to kill competition.

Xinyuan Micro: The company's front-end glue coating and development equipment has completed full coverage of 28nm and above process nodes in the wafer processing link

stated on the interactive platform on July 31 that the company has mastered a number of core technologies including glue-coating and developing equipment, single-chip wet-process equipment and other products, and has formed complete independent intellectual property rights . The company's pre-coating and developing equipment has completed full coverage of 28nm and above process nodes in the wafer processing link, and can continue to iterate to higher process levels.

Wow sounds like Huawei is behaving almost like Tencent. Or Microsoft or Google or Amazon. Wait, or just about any tech company that succeeded anywhere. Maybe Huawei should stop being mean and aggressive by learning from the great companies that ended up being absorbed by or forced out of business by bigger more aggressive companies instead.
