For some reason in the official ASML statement still only the DUVi NXT:2000i or better machines are mentioned as object of the ban.....interesting.... For reference, these are the machines able to go down to 7nm nodes....the 28nm machines seem not affected by the ban...we will see (I have doubts).

well, the Dutch ban is only for 2000i or better. When America issues its ban, I would presume it's for any American components, so they would need to find ways to de-americanize

I'm sure all the chinese politicians meeting with ASML is trying to accomplish something along that line

According to the data, ESW Technology Group is an enterprise group focusing on the integrated circuit industry and its ecological chain construction. Its core business covers three major areas: chips and solutions, silicon materials, and ecological chain incubation. Its subsidiary Yisiwei Material Technology Co., Ltd. focuses on the R&D and manufacturing of semiconductor-grade 12-inch silicon single crystal polished wafers and epitaxial wafers. It is one of the few domestic semiconductor material companies that can produce 12-inch large silicon wafers. Yisiwei Computing Technology Co., Ltd. is a new generation of computing architecture chip and solution provider with RISC-V as the core. It is committed to the R&D innovation, large-scale application and ecological construction of RISC-V architecture chips.

I've found that Suzhou Nawei (苏州纳维) is the top producer in the world for 2-inch GaN substrate. Now consider that GaN substrate typically aren't used for RF chips, I think this is more for power applications. But still, they'd want to dominate this more. Not sure if they will allow its export or only have it provide local firms Either way, will need to see if they can grow this to 4/6-inch more consistently

Says here they produce 50k wafers per year of GaN. Still some work to mass produce 4/6 inch substrate

Just in Q1, it shipped 50 million GaN chips w/ 150m RMB in revenue, 4x last year (on the flip side, see how this is still not that much compared to the revenue Guobo makes from its military orders & RF chips?. I find this revenue number a little suspicious. seems on the low side)

Looks like there are more players now, but Innoscience had 16% market share last year in power GaN chips. If it's increasing by 4x in revenue YoY for Q1, then it should really be gaining market share this year

As early as February this year, Nanning High-tech Zone held a centralized signing ceremony for investment promotion projects in the first quarter of 2023. Three projects, including the construction of a gallium nitride production base by Dongguan Yunxin Semiconductor, were signed and settled in Nanning High-tech Zone. Dongguan Yunxin Semiconductor plans to rent a standard factory building in Nanning High-tech Zone to build a third-generation gallium nitride semiconductor product production base to produce third-generation gallium nitride semiconductor products.

Zhongwei Company (AMEC): The market share in the etching field continues to increase and the performance grows steadily​


  The company released a performance forecast. Thanks to the continuous increase in the market share of key customers of etching equipment and the rapid growth of MOCVD equipment revenue, the company's revenue increased by nearly 30% in 1H23, and its net profit increased by 13%-23% after deducting non-existing expenses. Among them, the scale and growth rate of the company's revenue and net profit after deducting non-existing expenses in 2Q23 are basically the same as those in 1Q23.

  Looking ahead, the process of localization of semiconductor equipment continues to accelerate. As a leading company in domestic semiconductor equipment, the company has a leading domestic technology reserve for high-end etching equipment and will benefit from the promotion of domestic substitution for a long time. From the perspective of valuation, the company's 2024 PS is expected to be about 11 times, and we maintain our buy recommendation.

  Steady growth in 1H23 performance: The company released a performance forecast. Thanks to the continuous increase in the market share of key customers of etching equipment and the rapid growth of MOCVD equipment revenue, the company achieved revenue of 2.53 billion yuan in 1H23, a year-on-year increase of about 28.1%. Among them, the revenue of etching equipment increased by about 32.5% to 1.72 billion yuan, and the revenue of MOCVD equipment increased by about 24.1% to 300 million yuan. Spare parts and service revenue increased by about 17.1%, reaching 500 million yuan. In 1H23, the company realized a profit of RMB 0.98 billion to RMB 1.03 billion, an increase of 110% to 120% year-on-year. It benefited from the increase in revenue and gross profit and the sale of part of the company's shares in Tuojing Technology in the first half of 2023 (net income after tax was about RMB 400 million). Net profit after deducting non-existing expenses was RMB 500 million to RMB 540 million, a year-on-year increase of 13.45% to 22.53%. On the whole, the company's revenue and net profit performance after deducting non-profits are in line with expectations. In terms of quarters, in 2Q23, the company achieved revenue of 1.3 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 27.5%; realized net profit of 710-760 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 101%-115%; realized net profit after deducting non-existing expenses of 270-310 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7%-22.8%.

There is a huge rise in tool sales to the United States and Taiwan. Like double the sales amount. The sales increases to South Korea and China are a lot more muted. As for the huge gap in sales between China and Taiwan and South Korea, I assume that is due to them buying higher priced EUV tools which China cannot purchase. This might also explain the rise in the amount of sales to the US, which previously did not use any EUV tools in production and now has several projects with it.

Those were pre orders for TSMC and Intel expansion from the last 2 years, let's see if there are any cancellation as weak demand was projected across the board.

This shows Fab 2 in the middle is basically complete as we suspected. I have also looked at even more recent lower resolution Sentinel-2 satellite photos. In those the office buildings north of Fab 2 have been roofed with a red top similar to the office buildings north of Fab 1.

This shows Fab 2 in the middle is basically complete as we suspected. I have also looked at even more recent lower resolution Sentinel-2 satellite photos. In those the office buildings north of Fab 2 have been roofed with a red top similar to the office buildings north of Fab 1.
How hard is it to build the building itself comparing to setting up the machine inside? Is there special construction required for clean room?
