If it does come down to that kind of final showdown, in which a complete ban is strictly enforced and the decoupling of US and China tech is triggered, it wouldn't be just a Huawei problem or just a Chinese company problem. Everyone in the industry would get to experience what an earthquake feels like.

Medical ban is morally and politically untenable. If there's anything you've learned from history is that Chinese people don't do that kind of stuff.

There are alternatives to treasuries such as spending it to invest in companies, stockpile resources, gold, ...

US bonds will be trash very soon. Countries will soon realize this.

Agreed. How can we win, if we are too afraid to fight? Fuck Them. Economically we have the upper hand right now, time to hit them where it hurts. This is our one opportunity to have leverage, once a vaccine comes out, we don't have that leverage anymore.

I am sure Trump will go into Tariff man mode, but who cares? The US economy is so bad right now, they aren't buying anything anyways.

Calm down. China's best weapon is its ability to shrug off all of American's increasingly desperate efforts at sabotage and outgrow America anyway. Its greatest arsenal is the ability to harness all bans and turn them into opportunities to spur meteoric rise in domestic innovation and technology.

China sells medical equipment for top dollar... to save the lives of America's poorest and most needy demographics. Most of the smart people already know to protect themselves by now and young workers are the least susceptible. From the way America acts, I don't think it wants these poor, unskilled people, some who don't work and are on welfare, to survive. It's treating them like they are a burden and America's economy must go on and that the virus is an opportunity to cull the population.

Why should China give a fuck about America's poorest and most needy? There are a billion poor and needy Indians. People in the biggest slum in the world, Dharavi, are literally eating one meal a day because of coronavirus.

Being passive isn't going to win a war. Trump smells weakness and so does America. If China acts passive, they will attack. Its not time to shrug off anything. Ban PPE exports, Ban medical equipment exports. China know's America's weakness now, which is a stupid virus...keep that in mind.

A few strands of DNA can bring a superpower to its knees....It negates all of America's advantage in semiconductors, weapons, jet engines, etc.

Now the whole world knows America is weak.

This is China's manhattan project, we have to spend the energy to shore up our semi-conductor industry. And I am confident that its absolutely doable. Necessity is the mother of all inventions.

Guys, I'm not a kind person when it comes to politics. If I saw a tactic that could really crush the US into the ground and leave China the victor, I would draw no moral line on it at all. Whatever it is, do it. But I don't advocate doing things that don't truly harm your opponent while making yourself look desperate and ugly. That's a waste of time and energy, which should be allocated very intelligently in this ultimate competition.

This is not a war and the intention is not to kill people. This is a competition and the intention is to rise above your rival. In that sense, whatever leads to growth will win the day. Whatever is done just to relieve your own anger is a waste of energy/time/resources.

First of all it is a war, maybe not a shooting war, but it is a war. Its not to relieve our anger, we have to show strength and hit them when they are weak. No retaliation invites more attacks.
