The BBC doesn't seem to think its "nonesense", here's a qoute from the BBC article:

The agreement to buy the 24 Su-35 fighters and four Lada-class submarines was signed just before President Xi Jinping's weekend visit to Russia, said the report.

The report, which did not give a value for the purchases, said it was the first time in 10 years China had bought "large military technological equipment" from Russia.

Two of the submarines will be built in Russia, with the other two to be built in China.

The Su-35 fighters will effectively reduce pressure on China's air defense before Chinese-made stealth fighters enter service, the report said.

China and Russia are expected to cooperate further in developing military technology, the report said, including that for S-400 long-range anti-aircraft missiles, 117S large thrust engines and IL-476 large transport aircraft.

Xi visited Moscow from Friday to Sunday, his first trip abroad since becoming head of state earlier this month.

The countries signed around 30 energy and other agreements. Xi also met Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and became the first foreign leader to visit the Russian armed forces' control center.

Chang Wanquan, Chinese State Councilor and defense minister, said while meeting with Shoigu that bilateral defense cooperation is a key part of China-Russia relations.

Through joint efforts, wide-ranging and multi-layer defense cooperation has become a pivot of the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership, Chang noted.

Shoigu said Russia is willing to strengthen coordination with China and further push forward defense cooperation between the two countries.

Geng Yansheng, spokesperson for the Chinese defense ministry, said on February 18 that the military technology cooperation between China and Russia maintained a momentum of healthy development and would be further expanded, noting that such cooperation was not targeted at any third party and is conducive to the world's and regional peace and stability.

Damn, never expected this to happen. What is happening in the defence sector of China? Always hear them saying they want to be independent but now this! Really disappointed. We need to prepare gents because the people who criticise China and its achievements are coming.

From the height of the rumour until now. i never believe, china ever needs buying major arm deal from russia as now tjise runout are proven fake.

I am disappointed by some of the china military watcher mentality. Just because of a unfounded rumour. People lose faith in years of lightning advancement made by china military. loyal supporter become illogical and claim those Su-35 and submarine is good for china? Dont u know those things will waste china money ans create massive logistic problem? We have seen so many WS-10A install onboard so many J-11 series aircraft and even witness the birth of J-16 which is the equivalent of Su-35. The super advancement of china electronic sector ensure china AESA will surpass Russia with the like of type52C and KJ-2000/KJ-200.

China is there not by conincident , its by superb leadership and planing. How can those military planner start ahead with J-20 if engine is a massive problem? I hope this lesson strengthen our resolution of firm believe in china military.

The real problem with that is that no one knows how effective is chinese military tech. We see things, but dont know how good they are. How advanced is chinese radar tech, engine tech? no one knows for certain. And thats why you rely on rumours and speculation. But this is not solid knowledge.

ABM with mid course can be faked? ASAT can be fake? Both test confirmed by US defense department. Tell me how many countries successful conducted such test with success? Then we have the working beidou II system, I don't think that can deny as low tech?

I can tell you other things that BBC believes but I will refrain from doing so since it will break both the no politics rule and the no profanities rule.

On the other hand, I find it highly ironic that people took the quotation of a Russian source by a CCTV-4 talk show to be highly ironic. As I stated before, only stuff they show on CCTV-1 news could be considered official information. Funny how no one even listened to me.

Now the damage is done. David Axe and his fellow China bashers are going to have a field day with this bit of fake news.

I hope the news is not true, but how creditable is Defense news? The article is from TaiPei not Russia. I must say I don't know how creditable Global Times, but what I know is it is the official paper published by the central government, in addition if you check out the video of MOD press briefing they did not deny the news (also mentioned in pervious post).

With so many sources saying the deal is signed, I am seriously worried it could be true.
