Chinese Internal Politics

I think removing a official would be simpler to avoid the unnecessary anti-ccp propaganda and internal rumors if they just have the guy say " I am stepping down due to personal/health reasons." on day 1. Reappoint someone else temporary and the news would be over in 2 days. If the guy was corrupt, he lays low for a while and you prosecute him when the western press has long forgotten Qin Gang who or just allow to peacefully retire out.

I don't disagree at all with what you're saying, but when was the last time someone from that specific department made headways towards a higher posting in the State Council or elite politics?
To be honest, I haven’t heard of such people. It is very much possible that the MoFA thinks Zhao Lijian is best suited for only areas that require aggression, not for areas that require patience. Regardless, that is different from being shuffled to an “obscure” place since a single screwup in his current department can cause headaches for China’s top decision makers. Finally, aside from what I just said, there is still a possibility of him getting to the top when you have people like Li Qiang who jumped several levels to get to where he is now. The probability of success is low, but not nonexistent.

To be fair, the CPC have always been secretive in regards to the health of their officials. For example, according to this Times article (I know that it is not the best source, but this is the only one I can find relevant to my perspective):

the climate change official for China, Xie Zhenhua, got sick, and the only reason we knew that was that his substitute told people in the audience of a panel on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference about this issue.

Weren't those rumors started from a Twitter account which always had enmity towards Xi Jinping?
I read it first from Falun gong, so not credible but maybe sth is going on, I read also some news that one American official was boasting about progress in rebuilding the US spy network in China, they spent billions on it so nothing is impossible, but I believe Chinese mss is working hard and is catching a lot of these bastards.

I was puzzled about this at first, but after seeing the news that Tsai Ing wen infected COVID-19, I suddenly realized that COVID-19 had not gone far.
At present, there are only some unfounded rumors, so I don't want to think in the worst direction. The public widely doubts whether Americans have gained the "weakness" of senior officials and turned them into spies.
Unfortunately, your hypothesis could very much be true. We literally saw thousands of middle-class Chinese smuggle themselves illegally into US only to end up as dish-scrubbers. It might be funny for us to watch, but evidently propaganda that could brainwash middle class people into selling their entire possession and making a perilous voyage to the other side of the world to a place where their existence isn't even recognized is no laughing matter. In the last 2 years pro-US propaganda and trolls on the Chinese internet has ramped up significantly and with far greater intensity than before. It's to the point that phrases such as “一美元炸鸡” and “挣美元花美元” has literally became memes. For examples of ludicrous hot takes look no further than this video which has almost 1 million views and 12,000+ comments. It literally only took me 30 seconds to find, and I doubt ALL the comments and liked were from bots.

For many of the older generation, China's rate of development is far too fast for them to comprehend. The gap between China and advanced nations was so great during the 80s that many inevitably developed permanent PTSD-like combination of reverence and fear for the West, oblivious that China has caught up in many fields. On top of that, China has an entire generation of people that has only seen neck-breaking economic growth. This combined with 40+ years of persistent organized propaganda has led many to automatically assume that any economic slowdown has to do with lack of "freedom" and "democracy" as opposed to the greater global condition.

I think it's safe to assume that for every single 走线 person, there are probably 100+ brainwashed Western-worshipping sympathizers that's willing to sell out at first moment's notice. And it's inevitable that at least some of them are in critical positions.

That does not look good. I hope he can achieve a full recovery. Hopefully that doesn't give US any ideas on how to eliminate critical Chinese personas using guise of COVID.

We don't know the quality of intelligence gathering capability, particular for human agents/assets. For all we know, they are paying tons of money for low-quality or average information. I'm currently in China now, and a white tourist would stick out like a sore thumb and easy to track, monitor, and survey. They would have to pay a lot of money to convert a local Chinese, and even then, the quality of intel might be pretty normal or average. Knowing American culture, they would spin that is as a huge progress, lie, cheat, steal is their modus operandi.
Why would US bother doing that when they have all the brainwashed Wanwanese or even FLG sellouts doing all their bidding for them? Even as far back as the 50s and 60s the CIA infiltrators dropped along the coast and RB-57/U-2 pilots were all Wanwanese. It's even easier today as Taiwanese living in mainland is almost half the island's population. There are bound to be quite a few bad apples.

Can we cool it with the jingoism here?

There probably are some number of low-level informants slithering around, but the idea that in 2023 the CIA has assets that are privy to Politburo or PSC-level deliberations or the most sensitive MIC projects is just ridiculous.

Wow. Qin sacked from his FM position, still retains state councillor position though. Wang Yi back as foreign minister
Something must have happened. We can speculate what nature is it based on the reaction by the party.

  1. Something pretty serious happened, seriously enough to cost him from a high position.
  2. Not serious enough to face jail or removed from party. He was simply demoted.
  3. Seems a bit severe for just extra martial affair.
  4. Too light treatment if he leaked intel.
  5. He looks young and healthy, questionable if his health is so bad from covid.
  6. If he did have bad health, then either he can continue working, or he should leave. Demoting don't make much sense.
  7. This seems very unexpected by the party. There was no suitable replacement and Wang Yi has to come back to fill the job from a higher position.
  8. Therefore it cannot be a power struggle. Otherwise someone would be promoted into Qin Gang's position, not have Wang Yi come back from a higher position.
I guess it could be a combination of extra martial affair and some other minor corruption issue that messed with his image, making him unsuitable to represent the country. His ability is still considered good, that is why his replacement is Wang Yi who is his superior, not someone below him. Whatever happened was not severe enough to get him booted from the party. Stuff like espionage and treason is out of the question.

Why do you even entertain such ridiculous fantasies? Any such attack would mean war, and open season on any major US figure, you think America can afford that?

US is better served worrying about the way worse healthcare in their country compared to China.

America has at least 1 politician with severe stroke running around still in office, according to the same logic as all these omnipotent CIA fear mongerings, I guess the MSS personally eliminated him lol

China's eyes are on America, any misstep or threat will be well visible and blow up with severe consequences back to them.

This rhetoric is at best "enemy too strong and too weak" bs which nobody rational and non brainwashed needs, at worst it is buying into desparate enemy propaganda, which intends to scare.

It's extremely questionable that you source anything from *Falun gong* of all things.

According to Falun gong, theres always "something going on". Does China need to seriously investigate the status of Alien visits, the possibility of meridians curing cancer, or the risk of mixed race couples displeasing Li Hongzhi in heaven? Cuz according to Falun gong, there's "something going on" in all those areas as well.

You would be better off listening to the ramblings of a psych ward schizo than falun gong, because the former sprouts mindless platitudes, while the latter sprouts malicious platitudes in order to benefit the cult leader's greed.
