Regardless of who takes power, China will continue it's obligations towards Taiwan and defend it militarily from outside threats.
Internal unrest is not and has never been an valid excuse for foreign military threats. Dialogue, negotiation or military crackdown on ROC and other discontents is something China alone has the right to decide on.
For now, the central government wants to follow a policy of peaceful negotiation: bloodless, likely prosecutionless disarmament of anti govt forces and resumption of normal government rule within China.
I don't believe in a dove approach, but if the political experts do, I'll buy it until proven otherwise.
