sad due to Hllywood not being 100% banned but there's still hope that they completely bomb with messages that simply do not resonate with Chinese audiences, and being tired of Marvel cape movies.
I think Chinese movies will have long legs this year. If all the premieres are what we expect so this year will have very strong quality, Marvel may bomb.

Episodes #4 and #5 have two top-notch scientists acting like teenage crybabies/drama queens that is totally out of character for STEM type people. To me, these two episodes are very disappointing and the whole blame is on the director. Like in really bad horror (or romance) movies, actors must cry, scream, and/or shout like their fingernails were just pulled to convey the mood to the audience because that is far easier than how to act or direct.

The Netflix version finished shooting and is in post-production. Should be released in a few months.

What? The actor who plays Wang Miao performs very well, showing the psychological collapse of a scientist facing a supernatural phenomenon that cannot be explained by science. Moreover, it shows the image of Wang Miao as a relatively introverted scientific researcher with a certain sense of distance.

They really casted Wang Miao well, he is exactly how i would imaging a Chinese scientist to look like.

Just finished episode #7 i really enjoyed what they are doing with the VR part of the book...
It was exactly how i imagined the VR part would be...

Isnt almost the entire cast of the book Chinese? So Netflix is going to try and created a censored version without Chinese elements?

I always thought the books have a fairly prominent bent which while I wouldn't call hardline pro China, they're definitely anti western doves. In the central final conflict, there's an imho very obvious allusion to the fall of the USSR due to Gorbachev and humanity's (temporary) downfall.

Three body problem, among several other important messages, carries the message of the importance of real freedom. Real freedom only comes with autonomy. Trisolaris is presented as a fascist, militarist threat, against humanity, which contrary to trisolaris operates on collectivist principles. Humanity only loses when it is willing to accept trisolarans without demanding reform first.

The book is surprisingly open about something which would probably put you in trouble if you printed it in the west: "Never negotiate with a nazi".
