I always thought the books have a fairly prominent bent which while I wouldn't call hardline pro China, they're definitely anti western doves. In the central final conflict, there's an imho very obvious allusion to the fall of the USSR due to Gorbachev and humanity's (temporary) downfall.

Three body problem, among several other important messages, carries the message of the importance of real freedom. Real freedom only comes with autonomy. Trisolaris is presented as a fascist, militarist threat, against humanity, which contrary to trisolaris operates on collectivist principles. Humanity only loses when it is willing to accept trisolarans without demanding reform first.

The book is surprisingly open about something which would probably put you in trouble if you printed it in the west: "Never negotiate with a nazi".

And there are almost no successful cases of American adaptation of East Asian literature or film and television works. They can shoot all those famous Japanese manga into stupid shit movies.

(I've) watched Wandering Earth 2 today, a very good movie. Unusual visual beauty from supergiant industrial machinery. The special effects are great, top even in Hollywood, and the story is well told. Very recommended.

But I understand some China Haters hate it. When fighting with the enemy's UAV, I saw the J-20 of China and the Su-57 of Russia, but not the F-22 of the United States. Lol.

(However, it should be noted that the) value (presented in the movie itself) is not (that of the) west, but east. (There is) no super hero like in Hollywood, (but instead) more collectivism than individualism, teamwork saved the earth, (and) for the sake of collective interest, individual interest needs to give up when (they) have to. The film's attitude towards some technologies also reflects the current Chinese perception towards them:

1. Digital life - Negative. Chinese generally dislikes this kind of virtual reality stuff, for example Meta.

2. AI - Positive, but with some concerns that AI might replace human someday.

3. Industrial manufacturing and space technology - Very positive. Majority Chinese believe this is the future of the country.

However, the biggest theme of this film is still "unity of mankind", which is consistent with what Xi has been constantly saying "a community with a shared future for mankind".

China is now the largest film market in the world. If there is demand, there will be supply. (Besides,) the new generation of Chinare are taller, prettier, and cooler. It is time for them to impress the world on the screen.

(Also noteworthy being) people from different countries (which are being represented) in the Wandering Earth 2:

1. Indian - Digital life is invented by Indians, which is very consistent with Indian's belief of religion/reincarnation, and Indians are also famous for their software capabilities.

2. American - Americans raised the most objections to Moving Mountain projects. As long as there are difficulties, Americans would always say "we should suspend it". However, when the project finally succeeded, the Americans were the first to jump up to celebrate "we did it".

3. Russians - Russians are very positive in the film, very brave. In addition, the relation between Russians and Chinese in the film is not only a working relationship like Chinese and American, but obviously friendship, consistent with the current Sino-Russian relations.

There is a plot of the Earth Rebellion in Wandering Earth 2. They oppose the moving mountain project, but advocate digtal life. This reminds me the protesters during the COVID-19 lockdown, there are always opponents behind anything big.

(Extra Note 3) There are scenes of Chinese workers building space elevators on the Wandering Earth 2, which obviously pay tribute to the picture of American workers building the Rockefeller Building in 1932. But do Americans today still have the fighting spirit of their grandfathers?
