These cutesy anime that have colored hair and huge colored round eyes and really pointy noses (traits that Asians do not have) are not soft power for Asians. If anything this is white worship. You need to have people who look fully East Asian that are desired by the opposite sex and envied by the same sex eg women want to have him, men want to be him. This especially applies to Asian men who keep getting really awful representation with the likes of androgynous girly men like Lu Han domestically and micropenis manlet Ken Jeong, and super nerd, Jimmy O Yang internationally thanks to non stop Western media attacks.

Lu Han's stats.

Height: 178cm
Weight: 53kg.

5"8 and 117 lbs...

This girly man would be bullied to tears if he lived in the west with that effeminate body.

he is below even the lowest end for male bmi at his height

They work in their respective niches. Lu Han is marketed towards women, because it works. Look at the crowds of his fangirls going to watch his movies.

Likewise, Ken Jeong is marketed towards western incels, because it works. Look at the crowds of them going to watch his movies.

Not sure if you're just trying to be funny or serious.

Lu Han may work in East Asia (maybe South East Asia too), but only in those areas, where many(?) female fans have extremely bizarre tastes that are highly destructive to the men in those nations (they like girly men and the men adapt to women's tastes by looking effeminate). Look outside East Asia. Lu Han would be ridiculed and rejected as a repulsive and sexless transexual, lesbian, gay, etc.

If China is serious about growing soft power, they need to understand that a strong tall masculine man is the default standard that works globally. The current obsession with representing their men with these effeminate guys is disastrous.

LOL, you're completely out to lunch.

The flower boy look is a female *fantasy*. It's women's version of the pornstar look. Normal men certainly don't "adapt to women's taste by looking effeminate", that's absolutely ridiculous. In East Asia much like elsewhere, if you want women, ostentatious displays of wealth works a lot better than makeup.

If you asked Chinese women what their priorities are when looking for a partner, the number one answer will be "sense of security". That's code word for being mature and having a stable income.

Also... KPop boy groups are incredibly popular in America, and the fans are usually girls

Lu Han was promoted by South Korea, not China. He graduated from Seoul Institute of Arts and was hired by SM Entertainment. His formative years and career were all in South Korea so good or bad, Koreans are responsible for him too.

I also don't think you know women's psychology very well. If the Kpop look didn't work then why is Kpop popular? In the military there's a saying: if it's stupid and it works it ain't stupid.

Show me the proof that this is a woman's fantasy. Show the proof that a girly man like Lu Han is equal to the porn star look because I've never in my entire existence dated a woman, read about a woman or heard about a woman who sexually fantasized about a man they can beat up.

This is what happens when interpreting data out of context. Yes, women prize security yet they also prize good looks in a partner.

Kpop is declining in China. Nowadays cadre-fashion is in vogue in China in 2022. Girls dig men in police or military uniforms this year, because it promotes a sense of security.

During times of war, women prefer masculine men. Kpop feminine faces would be more popular during times of peace and harmony. There's a lot of research on this. During times of great crisis, men with high testosterone levels ensure offspring survive. During peace times, men with feminine personalities ensure offspring grow up in healthy households.

My hypothesis is flower boys are less popular during COVID era. No statistical research done so far.

Also take into account Korean and Japanese cultures like flower boys, because guys in Korea and Japan usually are very demanding and chauvinistic. Flower boys meet Korean and Japanese womens' fantasies of caring, warm-hearted men.

I would say Chinese men are less chauvinistic. Anyway Chinese women are more tigress than Korean and Japanese women for sure.

Bae Yong-joon became very popular with Japanese middle aged women in the early 2000s because he was the caring, touchy-feely meloromantic lead that Japanese women wished they had in their lives.

You're the one claiming Asian men act effeminate to attract women and you're asking me for proof? LMAO!

You do realize that the entire reason this whole flower boy entertainment industry exists is because of female consumers?

You don't even have to use KPop in the west you had all sorts of boy bands and worse off all the world had to endure a young Justin Bieber. The flower boy is not only a thing in Asia its not even a current youth thing if you ask me its from all times and every geography.

At least during the same time period I could enjoy dirty Christina Aguilera, Shakira, Britney and pussy cat dolls(Nicole <3).
This list above probably explains my eternal love for Lisa from black pink.
