WS10A is bigger than AL-31,so the text type of J-10 looks different.

Any source for that ??? ... As far as I know the WS-10A was built to nearly the same dimensions to fit both the Flanker's and the J-10's engine bay !

According to the interview of J-10`s main text pilot Jingting Zhang, the proto type of j-10(001,1002,1003,1004,1005)use ws10a,and their back-ends look bigger than the others.I found this in a famous Chinese Military magazine.
Now ws10a is still being texted, maybe it will has some important changes to fit the J-10a and the Flanker.

That could be the WS10, not the WS10A.

Don't think so. Making changes after all the testing and small batch production of the engine? That will throw everything upside down. If indeed the engines have different sizes, modifications would have to be done on the aircraft frame rather than the other way round.

Actually, 1006 to 1009 also has the big butt. It changed with 1010 which wasn't marked, since the plane stayed in yellow primer, and the blue prototypes that go up to 1016 and plus, all have the smaller butt.

Pls have the moderator of the website correct the lower thrust
figure for WS10a in the J10 article posted recently. He quoted an erroneus
110KN of wet thrust ! This is not correct.

Clive

WS-10 is the one that has the 110kn. The WS-10A is the one that probably has around 128kn. Not sure if my math is correct, WS-10 should be around 24,000lbs of thrust, AL-31FN is 27,500lbs, WS-10A is around 29,000lbs or 132kg.

Russians have said they will refuse to sell the SU-35BM parts to China, like its radar and engines. They will only sell the whole plane.
The question I have how much advanced the engine in SU-35BM compares to the WS-10A? If WS-10A come in full production does China really need the SU-35BM engine?

They could just buy it so as to keep the Russians happy for a little longer. It never hurts to have a few extra squadrons, anyways.

There comes a point where that's not prudent. With the Russians acting the way they are with their arms sales, not many nations willing to deal with the Russians, even as repeat customers. I am thinking the Chinese are almost at that point.
