Zhuhai. November 2. (Interfax-AVN) - The Moscow-based Salyut Engineering
Industrial Enterprise and the Chinese Liming Corporation signed a
memorandum of understanding on establishing the Salyut-Liming joint
venture at Airshow China 2006 in Zhuhai.
"The joint venture will promote joint products in the international
market," Salyut Director General Yury Yeliseyev said on Thursday.
He pointed out that in addition to manufacturing aircraft engines,
Salyut produced 20-and 60-MW power units, garbage disposal plants, and
water-desalinating plants.
According to him, such products are in demand.
For instance, Salyut signed a contract with the Mosenergo Company on
manufacturing USD 60 mln worth of 60-MW power plants this year.
"We expect the power plants to be launched into mass production next
year," Yeliseyev said.
As far as water-desalinating plants are concerned, according to him, the
Middle East market demand alone is believed to amount to $5 billion a
year, while that in Southeast Asia is considerably higher.
According to Yeliseyev, the joint venture will be established on a par.
"The venture may be established in late 2007. However, every legal
detail will have to be settled before that," Yeliseyev said.
He emphasized that the joint venture would take part in upgrading power
plants for combat aircraft, as well as developing the Chinese medium air
transport.
Yeliseyev did not rule out participation of the Ukrainian Progress
Design Bureau, developing a future engine with a thrust of 12 tons.
According to Yeliseyev, the shift from the contractor-customer relations
to partnership is a must.
Salyut designs, manufactures, and maintains AL-31F/FN engines, mounted
on Su-family aircraft, overhauls AL-21Fs, mounted on Su-22s and Su-24s,
and R-15B-300s, fitted on MiG-25s, and produces units and assemblies for
the D-436T, powering Be-200s, An-148s, Tu-334s, and Tu-230s, and the
D-27, mounted on An-70s, An-180s, and Be-42s. The enterprise also
manufactures and provides maintenance to gas turbines and gas compressor
units.
According to the Salyut press-service, Salyut officials are expected to
carry out a number of negotiations and sign contracts in the course of
Airshow China 2006, held in Zhuhai from Tuesday to Sunday.
