China is now lagging way behind in achieving herd immunity. In other countries, people are getting infected multiple times, with the symptoms getting milder each time. In China, people are not even getting their third shots.

An example would be the Chinese mens national basketball team which has been competing overseas. Many of their players got infected, once they got exposed to the real world. This shows their dwindling effectiveness of their vaccines.
Herd immunity is double speak for giving up to convince the idiots that they are being protected. There is no immunity imparted after getting infected by COVID.

You got the same chance to eradicate covid as eradicating common cold.
It is so easy to spread it is impossible to stop it completely. Either you stop trying to eradicate it and "let it rip" or you waste your time trying to contain it until the end of time.

Make vaccination mandatory + anti-covid pill available + masks and move on.

Tell that to Dr. Fauci, my co-workers in Canada who's been infected 3x even after getting 3 doses of the super duper Pfizer and then Moderna for the booster shots. Data analysis not some faith based analysis is what's needed here @henrik

Like you said, people in other countries got 3 doses of vaccines and then infected multiple times. In China most people, do not have sufficient vaccination and real infection. Most Chinese are vulnerable, once they get exposed to the real world. It is still a "brand new" disease to most Chinese, and the situation is serious.

The irony is that some people here are saying the Shanghai experience shows "0-Covid" doesn't work, when in fact, they failed to implement it.

I don't think you understand China's vaccination. Don't just look at foreign data. In fact, you can see a lot from the epidemic data released every day. Now there are far more asymptomatic than symptomatic in China. Both of them are considered cases in China, because they are infectious. In fact, the vaccine is working, and a large number of asymptomatic diseases actually bring some difficulties to epidemic prevention

It's simple. Covid isn't going away. This is an endemic, not a pandemic. Variants are becoming ever-more transmissible, like Omicron. It's a battle you cannot win.

China had a successful initial strategy but that strategy could only have worked if Covid was eradicated. Covid is here to stay. That means that perpetual lockdowns have to be abandoned.

As Darwin said: it's not the strongest, biggest or the fastest who do best, but those most able to adapt to new circumstances. Right now China is failing that test.

Moreover, even countries that supposedly "did well" on infections, such as South Korea, has failed this battle. They now have the same excess mortality as Sweden (which never locked down).

South Korea is usually held up as an example to follow, but the data doesn't support it. Lockdowns are useless.
Can you not post fake news here? You would only lose credibility here. South Korea has 5 times the population of Sweden. Even after Sweden and South Korea have the same amount of excess deaths, South Korea is still having much much less mortality rate per capita.
