95%的中国人支持动态归零,人命最宝贵。下面这句话就可以解释为什么:救人失地,人地并存;救地失人,失人失地。
95% of Chinese people support dynamic zeroing, and human life is the most precious. The following sentence can explain why: saving people and losing land, people and land coexist; Save people, lose people, lose land.

I don't know if you noticed that Shenzhen, where COVID-19 appeared almost at the same time as Shanghai, was decisively blocked after the number of cases reached double digits. The final result is completely different from Shanghai! This time, Shanghai's economy was seriously damaged, which was completely caused by ineffective epidemic prevention and long delay! If it is a strict dynamic reset, Shanghai will be as safe as Shenzhen!

That's a relief. I thought @xlitter meant Xi-tler. 习特勒。One of those stupid jokes about Xi.

China's policy isn't 'zero Covid', it's 'dynamic zero Covid' which is quite different.

Moreover, like others have already said, these years it's been clear that China has done well economically, especially in comparison to basically the rest of the world lol.

At the end of the day, the chinese government listen to their health experts as well as many other experts (economic, social etc.).

We're most likely gonna see some more changes in regards to their covid policy, as well as an eventual opening up (earlist next year I think, latest also next year imo).
China is now lagging way behind in achieving herd immunity. In other countries, people are getting infected multiple times, with the symptoms getting milder each time. In China, people are not even getting their third shots.

An example would be the Chinese mens national basketball team which has been competing overseas. Many of their players got infected, once they got exposed to the real world. This shows their dwindling effectiveness of their vaccines.

There is no herd immunity. You will catch the damn thing again next week if you got it today and double or triple vaxed with Pfizer or whatever.

Sorry, this is an English Forum. Please delete my Chinese reply. It's the same as the one above. Thank you.

I can confirm I had double Pfizer and got omnicron then a couple of weeks later got omnicron again. Both time took me out for 3~4 days imaging something spreading like a cold in a office but taking people out for a couple of day. That is also a big economic costs people in the west don't seems to count.

I'm a doctor in California, all my coworkers and me are at least triple-vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine and there have been maybe 10-20% who haven't gotten COVID at least once. No one has had symptoms worse than the flu though. Also note that we don't usually do asymptomatic testing anymore, so actual infection rate may be much higher.

I don't know how the numbers work between zero-COVID and constant lower productivity, but we've basically been in a perpetual state of understaffing since Omicron. Our infection control protocol is at least 5 days of isolation after symptom onset, and retest with the antigen test 1 day after symptoms subside. We're back to work either 10 days after symptom onset or if antigen test is negative, whichever comes first. When I got COVID I tested negative on the 6th day so I was back to work pretty quickly.
