U.S. parents respond to China screen time ban

"I don't think governments really have a place in telling parents how their children should be spending their time," Gural-Maiello said. "China has a rotten record in technology in general. I'd be far more worried about my son using apps that originate in China that collect data than I am about him playing Mario Kart."

Typical strawman b.s. and typical ad hominem attack by a lying American.

I have a bad feeling about this as well honestly. When you see the state begins to crackdown against identities (such as fan worshipping) other than national or state-promoted ones, it is a sign that the government is demanding collective efforts for a large conflict. In fact, the government is now getting serious about promoting traditional male masculinities as opposed to "sissy" styles. Also, one thing that COVID helped China is to test (and has proven) the state for its ability to mobilize the society during enduring crises. Now Xi and the Party-State can more confidently move this ability beyond COVID. What I will be looking next is that happens specifically with the Civil-Military fusion, especially if regular private companies (manufactures, construction, material deliveries, electronics, etc.) that pass security/political clearances start receiving defense projects en mass, as well as veterans were given higher pay to return to their previous units. What we have see so far are massive expansions of airports and SAM sites in the Southeast and in Tibet and Xinjiang bordering India. Roughly two years ago, the MND also ordered roughly 2 millions pieces of body armor set to be fully delivered by next year. For long time Chinese military watchers, y'all know that the PLA usually does not wear body armor and have traditionally kept only a small number for themselves during peacetime.
So China is preparing for War, how is that a bad feeling sort of thing? Did anyone really think US wasn't going to go for China throat after all just look at the history of America and what it did to get up there in the first place.

Rent control leads to shortages and poor quality housing, it is a bad idea
@ODEPDE bro I owned a few properties and I rent them, from my experience an empty occupancies is an opportunity investment return lost while renting them with a fair price, you had your ROI with free maintenance as the renters oversee your property. A happy tenant will save guard it as they know they will stay for the long term, A win win strategy.

Right but the government setting a price ceiling on rents? This experiment has been tried a ton of times, it's never worked out well

@ODEPDE Bro on my part I didn't raise my rent for the past 10 years...LOL. Hear me out bro, my priority is my property, I rather rent it for a fair price rather than somebody illegally squat on it and I value a good working relationship. My tenants look after my properties like their owned safe guarding its value. If I rent it at a higher price and keep on increasing the rent 10% annually there will be a lot turnover of new tenant, a hassle on my part as I keep on repairing my property and a long idle time before somebody is willing to pay for that amount.

Fair, but assuming your current rents, could you afford to buy a new house and rent that out? Rent control historically has decreased housing stock and made housing more dangerous

@weig2000 bro the last person in the article who bad mouth the Chinese policy didn't get it, if he argue about the parents right to discipline his children then he is correct but he hadn't done it. This gov't policy will force him, so their views and interest align what is there to be mad about. I think this law may be intrusive from the outside but its an additional tool for parents to discipline its children.

In truth, the Chinese regulations still require the cooperation from the parents in order to work. Otherwise, what stops the parents from sharing their own accounts with their kids, which have no screen time limitation? They are really some strong public disciplines imposed on game companies, parents and kids, which most parents would welcome. They're not like drunk driving law or anything like that.

@ODEPDE Bro that is why your tenant matters, you buy a property as an investment and renting is like an interest payment better than placing your money in the bank. Just like in business you need to established a working relationship, having somebody taking care of your property and paying for it, isn't it ideal....LOL Bro this kind of arrangement is the best, greed should be temper with wisdom and I learned it the hard way but its a lesson well learned.
