Now by banning video games, they are restricting the creativity of the Chinese programmers and game developers.
All your points have a vary basic mistake. NO video game ban are happening.

It is only ONLINE video games who are now restricted. These are the trash online mobile/MMO games who are full of lootboxes and ads whose only purpose is to get people addicted on their services

Good riddance

The ban is only for mmorpg like games if i'm not mistaken. In that world, World of Warcraft is king and I can confirm that game is like digital crack I almost failed my school year because of it addicting properties and that was almost 12 years ago or so.
League of legends and similar games are able to train younger people for roles on a DDG. Basically fighting against enemies in the control room on a warship is similar to these video games in which you play as a team.

They are also reducing the number of exams/tests and the amount of daily homework. Without proper exams the students will not have the motivation to learn.

Why don't they just ban smoking and excessive drinking among adults? These are way more addictive and harmful than gaming.

Give me a break. 6-7 (correct age?) years olds who cant even eat ice cream properly without becoming a mess, dont need such exams. They are actually harmful for their metnal health.

In that age it is much better to let them go outside and play with friends than letting them become mindless drones all the time in the mobile phones.

Smoking has a huge lobby behind however it has started losing the battle and more restrictions and taxes are being added on top.

Excessive drinking, I haven't heard it been a such a big problem that needs reining in

That is one of the stupidest statements I've seen. Have you ever talked to 6/7 year olds???

Smoking and drinking are BANNED for children. The video game restriction apply to Children

And we've previously seen what happened when alcohol was banned during prohibition in the USA.
So from a practical perspective, heavy taxation is the way to go for drinking and smoking.

China doesn't need hundreds of millions of children to be trained to fight enemies in a generic control room.

If anything, you can take any 21 year old, stick them into a control room simulator, then have an expert in 3months.

This might be the stupidest thing I have read this week. Congratulations

By the time these kids grow up, get experience and get on a DDG, AI would have replaced most of these roles..

It's clearly written by someone who doesn't have kids that have been afflicted by gaming addiction or had gone through the trials and challenges of trying to curtail gaming while inducing the motivation to focus on studies.

The laws has just been announced and all of a sudden the sky has already fallen already? Man, would you f..ng relax. If these attempts show that the effects end up being too negative and not achieving the desired outcome the political system is flexible enough to modify and or change the said rules. The focus is to make these rule changes to work and try to make it work. Everyone can always come up with reasons, rationale for these new rules not to work etc. and that goes to every laws, rules and regulations we have around the world.
