Educate me and others here on what exactly is happening with ANT financial.

It looks like the govt wants ANT to dial back it’s lending business and focus on payments. How does this benefit or hurt ANT and other interest groups.

A digital RMB payment system is also coming. Govt telling ANT/Alibaba to focus on payments, and at the same time offer an alternative payment system in the form of digital RMB that has no transaction fees.

I bow to your knowledge of Thailand. But I recall reading somewhere that Chinese diaspora in Thailand all took Thai names because of discrimination. This maybe in the distant past, but hey, I took it as discrimination nonetheless.
Yeah. Good relationship, have familiar face structure, family relation etc don't mean too much. This not prevent you get discrimination. I mean look at Vietnam. Vietnamese and Chinese face not too much different. Heck if you DNA test i pretty sure over 30 percent of Vietnamese have Chinese genetics. But that not prevent Chinese being discrimination and disdain in Vietnam. Just few months ago my grandfather got mocked about why don't comeback to China and find out have any relatives die because floods in southern China when they know my grandfather is Hakka.

The Indonesian copy this practice. But to this days they still practice Chinese custom and celebrate Chinese festivals. On the other hand Thai never discriminate Chinese to the extent of Malaysia or Indonesia. In fact Chinese dominate most of the Thai economy and politic The last 8 out of 10 Thai prime ministers are all Chinese all they way to Thai king and dynasty founder King Rama. Most of the bank and biggest conglomerate like Charoen Pokhpand industry are all own by the Chinese Statistically Chinese only make small proportion of the population if you consider only pure blood Chinese.

But if you count mixed blood then maybe half of the population have Chinese ancestry specially in big cities like Bangkok, Chiangmai etc. They know their family history. The king sister Princess Mahachakri Sirindhoern is fluent Chinese speaker and she went to China to study Chinese in her younger years. And went revisit frequently. She is the only Thai dignitary who has visit every single Chinese province. She is consider the patron of Chinese Thai community and went to celebrate Chinese new year in Bangkok China town every year. Unlike her King brother is much beloved by the Thai people and 2nd in line of Thai throne

The Chinese government confer her the medal of Chinese friendship

Yes thanks for that. I did read something about it. I wasn't going senile after all. Lol

So basically I was right, Chinese have been discriminated in one form or another through out these SE Asian countries.

Hi Lnk111229,

I don't want to discriminate, But Joshua Wong and his gang all had similar facial feature and also body structure, Where do they get it. Some say from Vietnam , but as you said they had similar looks with us especially from the northern part. (which I find the women beautiful and attractive).

Well look back of Vietnam history and you see why Vietnamese not so much different. Vietnamese ancestors maybe from some different clan than Chinese Han but after thousand year of history between Vietnamese and Chinese thing will get difficult to separate. So let get straight. Northern Vietnamese definitely is mix between Vietnamese Kinh ethnic and Chinese Han especially Han people from South who is fleeing to Vietnam from time to time because war, starving, diseases etc. South Vietnam is land Vietnamese conquered from Champa and Chenla so in south we have mix between Vietnamese Kinh, Khmer and Han. Heck if you is Southern Vietnamese who have dark skin you will get discrimination because you Khmer blood( Northern Vietnamese usually look down Khmer people)

Really? Try saying that to the starving millions in Africa and India.

That's the trouble with you younger people. You have not experienced hunger, and thinks more mouths to feed is better. That's the same way India is thinking.
You don't get it, TFR that china currently has is literally a population decline, the population will perish down to 0 and it's just a matter of time unless it's offset by mass immigration like in western countries. TFR 2.1 means population will be stable, and above that the population will grow. Someone else mentioned about raising the age of retirement, but to keep on working in your old age since the government is clearly hampered economically with the unsustainable population pyramid is clearly not a good indicator.

Let's try to take a middle ground then, let's just say that we want to keep the population number stable, it's not going to be easy to raise the current TFR to the stable level of 2.1. It would take decades to reverse the effect of the one-child policy, and the related sector of government has already looking into ways to solve it. Recently the matter has been discussed in formulating the 14th 5 year plan, written by the minister of civil affairs li ziheng. Look up articles

There you go. Longevity dividend and active aging. Senior care and welfare. Sounds like some government $pending to me.
I don't see the any alarming "oh no the sky going to fall 6 o'clock tomorrow morning, and China will be empty overnight unless making 20 millions more babies right now. None of those BS. All about planning for a gradual shift while boosting the capacity to handle it. Now we can all calm down and finish our cup of joe.

You're having a laugh. Aren't you?

So according to you. Deng and everyone else that advocated the one child policy are......... enemies of China!

@zgx09t

In his mind. Yes! You know he lives on another planet, let alone pie in the sky.

We all want China strong and prosperous, tall and proud among nations.
It's only that sometimes some of us forgot the families and humans that make up the entire endeavor, and see them only as a bunch of statistics to measure with something or someone else so that they feel superior coming out with a larger number.
It makes no sense to do that without considering their welfare and well-being in the first place.
