Chinese Economics Thread

This year economic recovery is mainly contributed by the supply side, mainly big state investment and industrial production. Next year the level of public investment will gradually decrease however, the projects started will take years to finish. There won't be any iron ore sanction, you can forget it. The prices now are really high, don't mention when China would sanction the Australian main export item.

It is the US that has been printing money. This is not the case for China.

Sanctions, bans, trade wars, aiya, I don't get the point of all this fighting. Everybody loses. Things were going so great up until 2018. It's time for a reset of relations and to seek stabilization in diplomacy with the West.

"Aiya"? Did you try to speak Cantonese to make yourself Chinese? Shame on you.

Have you been living on another planet. Yes things wasn't that bad, but what changed? Trump changed! China has said all along everyone looses in a trade war. It's on public records that China said that.

But certain dyed blonde guy took this as a sign of weakness, and a sign that China is afraid. And decided to unleash the dogs of trade war on to the world. Stop blaming China. Gee.

China is being hurt on the margins by this. China is still a developing country and can't afford to throw away any advantage. And yes China is the one who started this latest round by suddenly sanctioning all these Australian goods after Morrison said he wanted to patch things up. No one's asking you to bend any knee just look after your own self interest. We're not barbarians anymore this is the era of globalization and trade

You're having a bubble (laugh). So in your little world, it's all the fault of the yellow perils. They started on Australia. Ok never mind the fact OZ started banning Huawei and poking around with China's internal affairs.

Ok. Let you havecit your way. It's the fault of the chinamen. Better?

Aiya is definitely much more than Cantonese, as it can be heard with Hokkien speakers, like Taiwan, Singapore, people in Fujien and Xiamen, and overseas Chinese in Southeast Asia.

I never heard any Chinese use aiya in print however.

China prints money to match the US printing, to keep the Yuan from being too strong. However it may not be the case this time for various reasons, as the Yuan keeps getting stronger. But if the Yuan gets too strong, China would loosen interest rates and print money to weakn the currency.

Man this is the most garbage opinion piece I've seen. "Indispensable for sustaining America's dominance", "protecting the American way of life" - the author might as well just say he's the biggest Yankee cowboy in the world. "help China adopt the way of life the established world has adopted" - yeah like keeping Latin America and Africa exploited forever. @Gatekeeper why do these people sound so sanctimonious? Seriously it's all these morally superior folks telling us you better convert to our religion or you going to hell

"My family and my home are all here. I have property in Singapore, too. How can they treat me like this? If they have evidence, they should take me to court" apparently it's the same guy who was expelled from Singapore for political subversion. On July 2019, Huang told the South China Morning Post that he worked for one whole year in Washington D.C. to prove that he is not what Singapore implied as. "So I wanted to show that at least the U.S. doesn't think I am working for whoever."

Why are so many China experts mentally damaged? He tried to retire in Singapore but got banned from Singapore instead.

What a load tripe that piece of writing is. And he's the Dean of Beijing cultural and language university? Wow. I know China want the best brains to educate our people, but I fear he wont educate no one. He will just indoctrinate them instead.

I mean, come on. He's premise starts with China grow policy is to dominate the world! A big yellow peril theory right there.

Instead of, the reason China pursue growth is to drag it's citizens from poverty and slavery (to the west). Having achieved some of that growth (we are not there yet). The consequences is with it comes influence just like other leading power before it.

I know from my experience as a lecturer, how mouldable young minds can be. And therefore having someone like him in charge of our young bright minds would be a mistake. This Dean guy is a traitor to China, and he preaches to all those poor students. He has no place in our institute of learning.

Hi Crang,

If I may, a repost form the other thread.

Wow!!! Bravo Stan Grant, we need more of you to educate the WEST that DOMINATION is an alien/foreign concept and hold no meaning for us Chinese. The most common term and practice that we use is co-existence and respect.

Stan Grant says China is 'returning' – not 'rising' to dominance
December 12 2020

The ABC's International Affairs Analyst Stan Grant says to say China is 'rising' misses the psyche of the Chinese, who see themselves as returning to dominance.

A good and informative and ..... non bias analysis from Stan the man. I would just pick an issue with him. He said OZ is a middle power. I would class France, the U.K. as a middle power. OZ at best is a lower middle power.

However, still a fair analysis. Particularly when he said we have to choose a side, and that was made when Trump declared China as a strategic rival back in 2017.

Now where's that @gadgetcool5 when you want him. He don't take what we said, and blame China for starting this. Well, come and watch this white guy said differently.

As a proud Chinese American I am here to say this: This so called "aggressive imbecile" was never elected by a majority of the people. He never got the most votes. He never got a majority approval. He was impeached by Congress. His entire election was just a mistake. And now he has been defeated for re-election the first president to do so since 1992. Please do not take him as an indicator of American intention. Quite the opposite.

All what you said it's true. BUT that don't change one iota of what happened in the last four years. You may wish it never happened. But the fact of the matter is it did!

Come on stop living in a world you wish to live In, and live in the real world like the rest of us.

Aren’t arguments that he was not elected by majority or he got elected by mistake moot points... @gadgetcool5 you as a proud Chinese American should respect the electoral college as it is enshrined in the Constitution of America by the founding fathers as a election process precisely to prevent the majority rule scenario in what is basically a Representative Republic that is the United States of America, where direct Democracy doesn’t make sense. So the election of Trump is the direct result of the Constitution of America... so how is he not valid or represent American intentions, especially when his intentions had to have the support of congress in order for them to be implemented, this is the check and balance that was put in place. Doesn’t your statement of he was not elected by the majority or he never got majority approval goes against the Constitution of America?

We are off topic now... let’s move to another thread if you want continue this.

He lives in an alternative USA from the rest of us. Quite sad really.
