Changsha is building COMAC Changsha Aviation Industry and R&D Base, which is invested by Hunan Aircraft Take-off and Landing Technology Company. The first phase is a large aircraft ground dynamics test platform, and four test tracks will be built (test lines are divided into slide rails, trolley running, traction lanes, and observation lanes).

The base will be the only aircraft ground dynamics test platform in China after the NASA test base in the United States and the Airbus Teratype test base in Europe.

After the base is completed, it will be equipped with a slide rail bench and a vehicle-mounted bench test system at the same time, becoming the only one in China that can test the high-speed dynamic characteristics of various aircraft tires, wheel brake systems, and landing gear systems on various road surfaces. A test bed for angular dynamic properties..

Boeing's perilous position in the Chinese market.

A lot of people accuse COMAC heavily depends upon international suppliers in developing C919, but COMAC insists it follows a tried-and-trusted, successful business model.

Some excerpts:

Boeing is organized in the same way. As US industry consultant Lee Hall of the Clew Group points out:

“What most people miss is that Boeing is primarily providing an airframe with wires and hydraulics connected to supplier-provided systems such as cockpit avionics, engines, landing gear and interiors, all integrated together. These supplier-provided systems are all third party.

“As the COMAC C919 airplane program was being defined, some of these suppliers saw an alternative to their two main customers’ heavy-handed approach to pricing and terms, as well as potential for their market expansion.

“While the initial variant of the C919 is not as technically advanced or fuel efficient as the comparable Boeing and Airbus models, these suppliers are staking out a 50-plus year relationship, including the risks.

“Can they protect their IP and deter replacement through price and relationship building, or not? After all, if China is successful in building commercial airplanes, who will know that many of the parts came from Western countries?”

And the concluding paragraph:

In a market led by demand for single-aisle passenger aircraft, Airbus and COMAC have the advantage in China. Until a few years ago, Boeing could have expected to receive about 40% of all new orders in China. Now, its recovery hamstrung by the US-China trade and tech tensions, it could be destined to remain a distant third in the high-potential market.

Are there any possible areas of cooperation between AVIC and Brazilian Embraer?
Very hard. Actually, they used to have a joint venture assembling E145 aircraft in China, but it ceased in 2016. I suppose there may be some joint studies in future commercial aviation (which is not rare in the aerospace industry), but cooperation as big as to carry out a new model, I don't think it gonna happen.
Btw, E2 may probably be the last commercial model for Embraer. It's extremely difficult to develop a new model and survive nowadays, without financial and political support from big markets.
