The "2022 Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Report" released by the Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission on the 10th stated that by the end of 2022, .

In 2022, the CR929 passenger aircraft will complete the first round of requirements verification, and the verification rate of the first batch of aircraft-level and system-level requirements will reach 98%, and the development of composite fuselage will continue.

In the end the advocates for a solo Chinese Project seem to be right again. Just imagine if Russia did not drag their feet to try to extract more concessions out of China. Russia really is their own worst enemy at times.
To be fair, "we need western equipment to obtain western flight certificates" is a strange reason given that the ARJ21 is a solo Chinese project and it never received FAA or EASA certification.

Could this be a signal that chinese airlines will order boeing planes again, or is this just the backlog of already made old orders and that no new orders will be made in the future? Acording to this chinadaily article, no orders have been made by chinese airlines to boeing in recent years.

There will be orders for Boeing 777 and/or 787 as well as Airbus A350 long distance widebody jets due to (1) COMAC C929 is still at development stage, and (2) China's huge airlines market requirement of such passenger jets for long distance international routes.

The orders for narrow body jets like A320 will be continued while a much reduced numbers of Boeing 737 would be ordered. This is because China's airliners market for narrow body jets is simply too large for COMAC's production capability to meet the demand, especially in the next 10 years.

We will see Airbus and COMAC take up large portion of China's market share, and much smaller portion for Boeing. However, if there is a suddent turn around of China-US political relationship, Boeing's China market sales may increase significantly, though this is unlikely in near future.

Granted I've reverted to snooping status, I've said it a couple times in the past - China is particularly invested in Airbus's success in the Mainland not just because of geopolitical reasons, but also because Airbus has an assembly plant in Tianjin. Majority, if not all, of the A320s and some widebody A330/350s will be delivered in the Tianjin facility, and thus contributes to the the domestic economy.
