Re: china manned space - news and views

I remember coming across an article in which the writer suggested they could possibly have a VASIMIR propelled craft this decade, maybe the writer was overly optimistic?
Something like that would get you to Mars much quicker, and is there any inkling on whether China is pursuing such concepts?

When the I.S.S. was proposed I remember opponents claiming that a lot of the supposed benefits could be achieved in simulators back on earth. However in the forseable future I think the closest planet man is going to be able to travel to is Mars.

Our current propulsion system is the equivilent of rowing or sailing. Man hasnt be able to come up with an alternative propulsion system fast enough to even entertain visiting other habitable planets and galaxies, that are light yrs away.

:eek:ff
The humankind may be a little too late. Unless someone can prove that it's an elaborate hoax, there is or was already an alien settlement on Mars - The planet's Hale Crater may be just one of them. Before anyone starts laughing and thinks that it's a delayed April's Fool joke, do a search on it and make your on judgement.:nana: I'm kind of 50/50 on this.

Natural processes can't explain those structures.
One possible explanation is someone hacked the official website and messed with the images. Or it's possible someone inside the organisation playing ding dong with the images.

are you talking about the famous "Martian face"? That has been proven to be a "light trick". When the photo was taken, the light shone on the structure made it look like a face. Other photos of the same structure from other angles show a random mountain. It's been a closed case if this is what you talk about.

Never mind what I said above. This is a different thing (I just googled).

Well, just because we found some "unnatural" patterns, it does not mean it's civilization. what is "natural" to us is what happens on planet Earth "naturally". We have no idea what should be "natural" on Mars. For what we know, it might be how Mars works "naturally".

I personally don't think that extraterrestrials have colonized Mars. There is no reason for NASA to cover up such an incidence considering that they hoped to find evidence for extraterrestrial life in the Viking Mission.

We are getting VASIMR this decade :D. However it is only an experimental model that they are putting on the ISS. It is a low-power device called VF-200 used to boost the ISS orbit and I don't think we will use plasma propulsion for manned spaceships for another 50 years. I don't know whether China is developing a similar device but I think that the Chinese Space Agency will likely keep such a development a secret until they are ready to field it.

Extraterrestrial life on Mars? Sure. At some point. Today? Perhaps, it is possible...
Intelligent life on Mars? No chance..we would have known by now. Never mind the fantasies of conspiracy-theorists saying NASA is covering it up. There would be no way and no motive for doing something like that. Especially on NASA's prestige and budget.

Intelligent life in the galaxy? Very possible. Intelligent life in the universe? Sure...somewhere

China building communication satellites for Bolivia now. I think this has actually been in the works for a while, but now it is official.

Also, there has been another piece of news recently that China and Brazil are sharing data from their satellites with poor African countries.

If one were to look carefully, the structures are too complex for it to be attributed to natural processes. One possible and more down-to-earth reason could be that of what I've posted in the previous post.

For centuries, most people including many scientists believed the human eye was too complex to have been gradually constructed by natural processes (as evolution).

Don't get me wrong. It's -possible- it's artificial, however one should not underestimate nature's ability and frankly I find nature as the more probable source for this. A lot of features on Earth too, would seem weird to result from casual erosion etc. I'm sure if we were on Mars and studied Earth, most people would deduce that Ayer's Rock in Australia would be proof of intelligent life on Earth as it would be highly unlikely for natural erosion to produce something like that.

PS: As for the uses of the ISS, mankind has studied Earth for millennia and we still don't understand everything.
