Re: china manned space - news and views

A thoughtful point of view, probably correct in more ways then none, however I see the landings on the moon in two phases

The race to the moon by USSR and the USA to demonstrate ones technological and engineering , superiority over the other, is done and dusted, no prizes for second, and that fact will continue to receive pride of place in chapter one, of mans venture to the moon, no matter what.

The second phase is as you said the colonizing of the moon and Ill concede to your views on the factors that will influence the historical records.

I think it'll be somewhat similiar to what happened with Columbus: he was the first (non-viking) European to land on America, and everyone knows him, but the fact that he sailed for the King of Spain is less well remembered, and English is the dominant language in North America.

I am wondering why peoples are so obsessed with whether the chinese have help from other people in developing their manned space flight and mission. The bottomline is... WHO CARES???

As long as the space ship flies and mission is accomplished, it is a crediable feat for the Chinese.

Btw, as I have always believe - unless there is no one with previous experience or not willing or wanting to impart these experience, "Why do you want to reinvent the wheel?"

Bravo, very Astute Thinking.
Let's be Pragmatic.
Let's learn from comrade Deng Xiao Ping.

Who cares if the Cat is Brown, Pink, Red or Yellow, as long as the Cat are master on catching the mice.

All the Huge Credits and Blessings to Russia for their continuous contributions to the China Space program.

Let's expand our mental horizon.
Let's move beyond just Earth.
Our Target is not just the Moon, but Mars, Jupiter, ... ... and the next Star System.

JIUQUAN: China has successfully put into orbit another remote-sensing satellite, "Yaogan IX" at 12:55 pm from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwestern Gansu province, according to a statement from the center Friday.

The satellite was sent into space aboard a Long March 4C carrier rocket and would be used to conduct scientific experiment, carry out surveys on land resources, forecast grain output and help with natural disaster-reduction and prevention endeavor, it said.

Its predecessor, "Yaogan VIII," was launched from Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in northern Shanxi province last December.
well, another in the Yaogan series has now been launched. Looks like they are going for a pretty aggressive launch schedule with this series.

Look's like China is looking into putting a man on the Moon. The timing of this announcement is a little odd given that Nasa is giving up on their own Moon rocket.

Wow I really hope they are serious about a moon landing.Russia and India are already starting to compete for the much vaunted "return to moon" landing...

I think the timing is interesting. I hope they didn't announce this just to push it in Nasa's face - heh, let's hope China's economy keeps surging if only for the reason to see mankind return to the moon this decade or next.

If the scientists cant get nucleur fussion to work, whats the point in going to the moon and minining helium3

THe Americans must have a inkling of the resources on the moon, fancy being prepared to walk away from it. IMO if they felt there were trillions of $ of. resources there, they would find the money.

Yes, that is right. Keep copying from the American. Forget being innovative and pioneering.
USA is so smart and wise that their public debt burden is = 14.5 Trillion USD and counting.

You applauded people in the western world for living in welfare and taking it easy on themselves. ( Posted on other thread ) :nana:
PR is the living example. Forever Lazy, Backward, and Inferior.

Thank Goodness for the fact, 99.999 999% of people in China is NOT PR.

Note: PR = Parasitic Rat

I think the White House is trying to encourage more private enterprise in space rather than relying on one entity. Perhaps in time pioneering in space run by multinationals, specialising in resource extraction, the Rio Tintos maybe even Sinopec and such like.

Science is tied to social policy. Sour grapes are also an unfortunate part of society.

The current world cannot handle everyone consuming as much as an average America. Per capita low consumption nations like China, India, Brazil, and a few other nations are increasing their consumption, and already you have the governments in the US, EU , and Australia and some of their citizens whining about environmental degradation while they are the ones who consume the most.

China's modernization is very similar to US and European industrialization (lots of advancement but lots of problems, too), but China's modernization does not involve conquering the American continents, Australia, and other lands, genocide against millions of aborigines, and slavery for Africans and Indians.

This is where science like space technology can help. China can greatly improve its per capita wealth without greatly straining the earth if China uses satellites to improve communication and research, uses space travel for resource management (like exporting hazardous waste and import raw materials), and (in the distant future) uses a full range of space technology to build colonies in outer space. Space technology can obviously be used for offensive military plans or defensive military plans.
