Shocking, actually, given all the maid-abuse reports coming outta HK, Singapore, and Taiwan as noted fairly often in the SCMP -- but good to know and welcome news to me!
The sad part is when all is rousy they never associated themselves as Chinese, when things go bad they look for any Chinese for support, I don't know if it's arrogance BUT most of them look down on their own kind.

There is no statistic that supports Chinese people carrying out more crimes against migrant workers than any other population. If anything, the contrary is true.

If the coastal cities in China are so bad, maybe these SEA workers should go to the middle east lol

They don't for a reason.

But also a fear factor that make them think twice before they want to oppose china militarily
"Fear" is part of what's making them act this way (well, "pride," really)...as a Chinese person, you know Sun Tzu's maxim to always provide your enemy with a "golden bridge" -- i.e., a face-saving avenue of escape....

Xi Jinping and all his predecessors, actually (even Hu Jintao, from what little I know), are so remarkable to me for insisting on China's peaceful rise all these many past decades of nonstop provocation...they really have their eyes on the prize! Remember that leadership is getting others to want to do on their own what you want them to do!

It's truly an interesting phenomenon and I've always wondered if the "psychological history" of European Jewry could provide any insight, given that prior to the Holocaust many Western Jews (mainly German) looked down on Eastern Jews (Poland, Russia [Ukraine], mainly)...and indeed, quite a few actively converted out to some form of Christianity.

It's not all self-hatred but then what else besides opportunism could be going on (if anything)?

Okay this is literally the third time it's happened to me and I've only been here like a week so I feel like I must address this now and will bookmark my comments to follow as a reference for the future when, sadly, it it will happen again since this is actually a very common bad cognitive habit in SDF, somewhat surprisingly to me (since aren't Chinese people supposed to be extra smart LOL).

What am I talking about -- what's this "it;" what's this "this?"

I don't know the technical term (someone please help) but I'm talking about the unfortunately common phenomenon where someone says "X" and others will reply with "X1" (x-subscript-1) as if in disagreement -- but X is not X1, actually.

I saw this a lot during the early days of the Palestine-Israel thread and it got me so upset I created an account here just to reply -- but it took almost a month to get approved and now that thread's "shut down" to personal opinions and so I can't go back and point out where people are conflating related but separate matters (poor @Boltzmann -- and I'm actually an anti-Zionist [no Israel does not have a "right to exist"...except by carving out parts of Germany and Eastern Europe if anything] -- but he was getting dog-piled unfairly with strawman arguments and so forth).

So just for the record, no one's claiming Chinese bosses are all bad or mostly bad or the only bad ones (though personally literally all my worst bosses have honestly been Chinese LOL and I'm an old fart who's done many different jobs) -- and yes technically you didn't claim anyone did, either, but the juxtaposition, coming in direct response to me, gives that impression so I just have to point this out. That's all.

I've taken care to not "make an issue" of this the previous two times it's happened with others ("What would Chairman Xi do?" LOL) but now feel like I just gotta say this for the proverbial record -- again, really for use as a future reference when it happens again (and so again not actually an "attack" against your reply to me).
If the coastal cities in China are so bad, maybe these SEA workers should go to the middle east lol

They don't for a reason.
The most likely reason is that it's a lot closer geographically and thus easier to get home if anything -- though certainly a roughly similar Asian culture is also much more preferable to a relatively alien Muslim and Arabic one (I bet even if the maid is a Mora herself probably).

Sun Tzu said giving enemy an illusion of escape path, so they give up resistance and fall into the trap mid escaping. That is far from face saving hahaha.

Makes sense -- but I'm curious; was there the actual word "illusion" in the original Chinese? Because I know that that "classical style of writing" is terse and not clear to many native Chinese speakers (my own mother found some passage or other of some classic terribly obtuse and gave up translating it for me!) so I wonder if you actually know that the word "illusion" or some symptom was actually used -- or if the context makes it clear that that's the intention.

The Philippines said Sunday more than 135 Chinese vessels were “swarming” a reef off its coast, describing the boats’ growing presence as “alarming”.
Still feeling tough Bong Bong? Lets so how you are gonna challenge those 135 Chinese fishing vessels with your pathetic PH Coast Guard.

The Chinese boats were “dispersed and scattered” within the boomerang-shaped Whitsun Reef, which the Philippines calls Julian Felipe Reef, around 320km (200 miles) west of Palawan Island, the coastguard said.
Screw the SCMP and screw the PH! Its called 牛轭礁, and it belongs to China!

No response was made to the radio challenges issued by the PCG (Philippine Coast Guard) to the CMM vessels which is now estimated to have grown to more than 135 vessels dispersed and scattered within Julian Felipe Reef,” Manila’s coastguard said, describing the boats’ presence as “alarming” and “illegal”.
Good. Ignore the criminal PH Coast Guard. Bong Bong Marcos wanted to claim the 牛轭礁 for the PH and play games with China. Now, watch China come and harvest the seafood in force. PH and the West can cry about this being "illegal", but the West and Israel have already established that there are no such things as "international law". Bong Bong thought that he had the West's and ASEAN's backing to push China out of his false West PH Sea. Now the Chinese are coming and bullying the PH out of fishing waters the same way that they have always done before. Its a challenge and a slap in the face to Bong Bong. He thought that he was tougher on China than his predecessor, but China is calling out his bluff.

I doubt this was directed by China's government. All of this display is like a monkey show, temporary and ineffective. If China really want to send a serious message to Philippines then it should tell Philippine that it will build/refortifies more islands after every provocative move by Philillpine: and then actually do it.

Vietnam is building Islands again in SCS.

The Chinese government needs to respond to what Vietnam is doing. Firmly tell Vietnam to stop and if they dont then China should do what Vietnam is doing but in much larger scale.
