China's SCS Strategy Thread

The video clearly shows how the Chinese coast guard acted professionally and with restraint when pushing away the the US sponsored provocateur class vessel. Recent reports have indicated that the US is pressuring the Philippines to build up its presence in the area which is why construction materials have started pouring in to attempt to resuscitate the derelict ship.

After the incident has been made public, the US responded with the usual threats

Now that the US has its sights in the Rén'ài Jiāo, China will need to act fast and dislodge the derelict ship that is squatting in the area. Preventing resupply missions even via air drop by plane or heli needs to be a top priority, when the crew of the derelict ship is near starvation, China can then offer a goodwill gesture to have them evacuated to a safe and far away place.
There's no real urgency, the sea will claim that ship soon. When it does CCG will be there to rescue the people then establish a permanent presence.

let's really just calm down. there is no big deal here. The state department is only capable of issuing big words with nothing to back that up.

Nobody in America is looking to get in a conflict in Philippines when there are already one in Ukraine & possible one in Iran & people now know about Taiwan. The # of Americans who can find Philippines on a map is tiny.

Sir remember the US -PNG deal, they want to recreate the same condition BUT there is a huge caveat, It's a Chinese lake and have an Escalatory Dominance. Let's see if Japan and Australia lend a hand BUT I doubt it, the Aussies have plead the American presence in her sphere of Influence because they're stretch thin and so is Japan in the Daiyou Island.

Remember the American support always have a string attached, they want to create trouble and then ask an exorbitant price, its like a mafia getting you to pay more for nothing.

Its become clear that Marcos has sold his principles to the Americans in exchange for a temporary protection for his family's fortunes. I guess Duterte didn't really have much of a choice back in the previous elections, other than Marcos, there are no strong enough political figures that will not get back at him for his much criticized drug war, Marcos is his safest bet, but because of the controversies surrounding the Marcos family, Marcos is susceptible to destabilization and political blackmail especially from the West.

Marcos may not be going against Duterte or favoring ICC intentions to press charges against Duterte, Marcos has clearly aligned with the US and is doing America's bidding to create tensions in the SCS.

Well we know his campaign platform, to clear his father name and wealth. There are still some die hard Marcos loyalist BUT like you said, he is lucky because Sarah Duterte slide down her political ambition. The elder Duterte doesn't want her to run as president, citing her immaturity and also the dirty side of politics.

How did the ship get beached there in the first place?
Warship is part of a nation Sovereignty, so having it there make your claim more credible as Possession is nine-tenths of the law.

A single ship doesn't mean ownership, but then again, few of the SCS claims from any of the countries involved are valid. It's all might makes right in the end.

And also the Philippine don't have the resource to make a permanent installation so it's more economical to beach an old LST, we even lost an ISLAND a freaking Island to the Vietnamese without a fight, just a beer and prostitute will do. ;)

1975 – Capture by South Vietnam
Filipino forces guarding the Southwest Cay attended the party and upon their return, found that the South Vietnamese, who were then allies, had occupied the island in their absence. Southwest Cay is near the northern edge of the Spratly Islands in the South China Sea.

PCG today released photos of Chinese ships around Renaijiao around the time of the incident, there were six CCG ships, two PAFMM and one PLAN 056A:

The small boat with the arrow was the one carrying construction supplies. Judging from that last photo I don't think they'll be forcing their way through any time soon.
