Seems like a significant development:
South China Sea: without permission from PNG, in explicit threat to Chinese fishing
- The PNG agreement is the first with the ship boarding provision for a nation with which the US does not have full defence responsibility
- Chinese naval vessels regularly transit a narrow strait between Australia and its northern neighbour, PNG, moving between Asia and the Pacific

The solution to every problem for the deep state is to extend itself even further. They should take a look at how many coast guard ships they have capable of going that far and how much maintenance it has to do afterwards.
Just stupidity as usual. I would say that china needs to send a message to png for going against it's interests in general.
In reality, china actually has been dramatically reducing fishing activity and relying on fish farm

By principle of reciprocity, this opens the door for China to search and board any US (and US vassals) ships in China's EEZ.
Sir it's all optics, they try to lay the ground work for similar policy in the SCS. Well good luck, in a Chinese pond with escalatory dominance, let's see if they have the temerity. The recent incident with Philippine Coast Guard is to test the Chinese respond and look what happen, the expected US support didn't materialized, which make us look stupid, the end result led Duterte to visit China and talk with Xi. A joint military drills is a product of that diplomatic push.

China must move wisely to promote good relations with ASEAN. China is already a superpower. Their balance of power is not equal. Simply standing shoulder to shoulder and asserting itself will only unsettle ASEAN.

Makes me wonder what US Coast Guards are doing there far from US coastlines ..... Why US poking nose everywhere around the globe...

They always do especially against China which is thousands of km from US. This hegemonist is bloody wicked and trying to stir up a war to keep their defence industries going!
