China's SCS Strategy Thread

A single ship doesn't mean ownership, but then again, few of the SCS claims from any of the countries involved are valid. It's all might makes right in the end.
It really doesn't take much for a country to lay claim, just the will power to drop off a few guys and set up a semi-permananent dwelling. Since nobody is firing any actual weapons technically Phillipines could've ran the blockade here, they just should've used a bigger boat that won't get stopped by a water cannon.

It's just good PR (domestic/international) to look weak here, they looked well prepared for it too with the aerial footage and all.

As expected, the most recent incident in the SCS is being blown out of proportion and both domestic and foreign actors are extracting as much propaganda value from this. I dont live in PH but by just checking the news its easy to get the gist of whats happening, there is a frenzy of public officials as well as private commentators that are barking more sinophobic comments in the country's information space. There is no doubt that the US is prepping the country to adopt more sinophobic and provocative actions in the SCS and in the UN council, perhaps the goal is to throw as much controversy on China and increase tensions as a cover to rig the upcoming Taiwanese elections in January 2024 in favor of the separatist DPP party.

Philippine politicians are now exploring ways to cut Chinese businesses and investments in the country, and even went as far as criticizing military officers who had attended military education in China. Its becoming clear that the US has mobilized the political forces in the country who are under its pockets to set anti chinese sentiments into overdrive.

This is part of a BIG campaign right now to undo the big progress made in the relations between the two countries during Duterte's administration.

Great...

Now that being the case, China should just forget about that invitation extended to the Philippines for conducting bilateral military exchanges between the two countries last week - Because it would be literally impossible for Manila to agree to that under such political environment.

In the meantime, China should start considering the avenue of treating the Philippines like how they treat India.

To be honest, I'm thinking that all of these that happened with regard to that derelict ship last couple of days have actually been planned by Sinophobic Amboy warhawks in Manila to thwart any attempts at even the slightest reconciliation with Beijing on the SCS issue, including that invitation from China.

If that's not the case, then why all the sudden explosion of drama from the Philippines right now?

Sorry to all the Filipinos here in this forum who hold friendly stances towards China - Unfortunately, your political elites in Manila have chosen to go on the path of outright enmity against China and doing the bidding of their masters in Washington DC - At the significant cost of the wellbeing and prosperity of your countrymen...

In the meantime, Beijing must start preparing to face even bigger provocations from Manila, perhaps with even more significant backings by Washington DC, Tokyo, Canberra and Brussels in the coming times.

In the meantime, the Ronald Reagan CSG has been spotted sailing in the Celebes Sea, which is just a Sulu Sea and a Palawan Island away from the South China Sea.

Manila and DC definitely have been preparing for this drama with Beijing.

The PLA Southern Theater Command and the PLAN South Sea Fleet, be ready.

If the US chickened out in 2016, hard to see why they wouldn't chicken out again in 2023.

PCG today released photos of Chinese ships around Renaijiao around the time of the incident, there were six CCG ships, two PAFMM and one PLAN 056A:

The small boat with the arrow was the one carrying construction supplies. Judging from that last photo I don't think they'll be forcing their way through any time soon.
Looks like a pretty strong presence of CCG, with this many CCG ships and boats in the vicinity when this happened. Did the CCG got wind of the PCG's planned move on the derelict beforehand?

The United States was obviously not happy with the recent visit by Duterte to China and with ongoing efforts to defuse tensions, so the US has to make another provocation to derail these developments, and with the significant number of pro US fifth columnists in the Philippine government, this is an easy feat to do.

Of course, the swift reporting and commentary by NATO affiliated media is not surprising, now they are building up the narrative that despite efforts by the Philippine government and Duterte, the Chinese continue to "harass" the Philippines and in short making it look like the Chinese cannot be trusted.

I wouldn't say warhawk but Sinophobic yes, and this sinophobia is a result of decades long propaganda by the US and its lackeys in the media industry. Recall that the US has similar programs to induce Sinophobic sentiments in Indonesia which resulted in ethnic Chinese people getting harassed and killed by the locals.

This is indeed very frustrating for the average Filipino who only wishes to have good relations with their neighbors, Im pretty sure this is the same frustration felt by poles, finns, lithuanians, etc who don't want to see conflict with the Russians but are helplessly dragged in a confrontation with Russia because of their US controlled governments.

I agree, this incident is far from over and I fear the US will try to escalate the situation to push the entire region to the brink of a shooting war similar to Ukraine but this time its the Philippines that will be used as a meat shield against China.

Philippine military is a police force and it's navy is a coast guard. The US know this and so is their vassal, the question should be ask why didn't they arm us with modern weapon to challenge the Chinese? Why the hesitation? Are they afraid that we're not capable?

All this question had a racial angle to it, we're brown and Asian and only the American can save us cause we were their little brown brother who can't act independently and they're right.

The Philippines believe that Chinese weapons are useless and fake. They also believed that Russia was losing to Ukraine. This is actually a very good gift. They believed everything hollywood tells them and I lold so hard when the HIMARS missed a wooden boat during an exercise.

Im wondering if its possible for China to move a floating rig in the area and anchor it in the shallowest portion of the Rén'ài Jiāo. This way China will have a similar presence in the area to counter the derelict Sierra Madre. Also, the rig can be reconfigured in the future to support island building operations when the area has been fully secured by PLAN.
