But the Philippines think -- the howling American puppets -- that it can't and shouldn't back down against Chinese military confrontation because it assumed that since America is their Daddy and treaty ally, it'll come to it's defense regardless of how it conducts itself with respect to their claims or dispute in the SCS. That's the reason or one of the strong reasons why there are loud and persistent voices within the Philippines who loves to yak and open their big mouth about confronting China.
But if their people know the absurd reality and the disproportionate level of powe China has over the archipelago and knowing that the U.S. can't and will not die for them unless it wants the world to end then and only then these antagonistic voices along with their undue influence can end into irrelevance.
There's strong element of Filipinos that sees themselves and their history as some kind of a warrior race, I don't really have a clue where they got this impression from since they have never managed to pummel their colonizers to the point of surrender the country because of their martial prowess. As far as I know the historical figure they love to invoke as a sign of their martial prowess is Lapu-Lapu an indigenous Chieftain that killed the Portuguese explorer (Ferdinand Magellan) who then sought and was granted an expedition from Spain who's original destination was more than likely to sail to India
@ansy1968 has to correct me on this one. But instead landed into one of the archipelago's island that was Mactan, Cebu.
