China's SCS Strategy Thread

Reading closely, they don’t actually deny the facts of what China claimed.

Their press statement is:

“The claim made by the People’s Republic of China that they have permitted a medical evacuation for a sick navy personnel, in order to present themselves as humanitarian while asserting their authority to allow such operation to be carried out in the Philippines’ Exclusive Economic Zone, is ridiculous.”

“This statement further confirms their illegal deployment of vessels within our EEZ and highlights their government’s view that the preservation of human life and welfare requires approval,”

“Evidently, the deployment of numerous boats to delay the medical evacuation for hours just shows that they have a low regard for a humanitarian mission,”

How exactly do you quote an article and leave out the one contradicting paragraph between the ones you quoted?

In direct response to this, Tarriela said:

“The claim made by the People’s Republic of China that they have permitted a medical evacuation for a sick navy personnel, in order to present themselves as humanitarian while asserting their authority to allow such operation to be carried out in the Philippines’ Exclusive Economic Zone, is ridiculous.”

"The China Coast Guard on Sunday tried but failed to block the medical evacuation of a navy personnel in BRP Sierra Madre, Tarriela said on Tuesday."

“This statement further confirms their illegal deployment of vessels within our EEZ and highlights their government’s view that the preservation of human life and welfare requires approval,” Tarriela said.

“Evidently, the deployment of numerous boats to delay the medical evacuation for hours just shows that they have a low regard for a humanitarian mission,” he added.

I bolded thew bit you snipped out ...
His statement is clearly that CCG tried to "block the medical evacuation" - but failed.

I'm just waiting for his superiors or someone higher up in this 3-ring circus to contradict him ;)

I omitted that paragraph because quotation marks aren’t around that part of the article. In other words, it’s the article writer (mis)interpreting the statement of the spokesperson.

I believe that’s the intended outcome of the statement: technically true, but prone to “misinterpretation” by aligned media.

Reading between the lines, what actually happened is likely:
  1. Medical event occurs at the Sierra Madre.
  2. The Philippine coastguard prepares for evacuation.
  3. The Philippine coastguard is intercepted by the Chinese coastguard, delaying evacuation.
  4. After negotiation, the Chinese coastguard allows the evacuation.
The Philippines spokesperson reports points 1-3, and addresses 4 only in passing, saying that China’s motivation for 4 wasn’t humanitarian. The article writer then interprets 3 to mean that the evacuation wasn’t permitted at all.

Only in the Philippines, where the government is openly soliciting the private sector to help finance the country's Military. And for what?? for confronting China?? This Defence secretary needs to realize that businesses have ZERO to gain in a confrontation with the world's biggest economic powerhouse

Like I said before It's an extortion, he should set an example and donate his family fortune being part of the Cojuangco clan, surely he has the means to do so.

Teodoro, born in Isabela, is the only child of former Social Security System administrator Gilberto Teodoro Sr. and former Batasang Pambansa member Mercedes Cojuangco-Teodoro. He is also the nephew of Danding Cojuangco, chairman of San Miguel Corporation.

@ansy1968 , I wanted to ask your opinion about the current witch hunt campaign in the PH that is targeting Chinese Filipinos, it seems the persecution of Chinese Filipino politician Alice Guo is in full steam, and I fear this campaign will be expanded to other Chinese Filipinos in the future who refuse to take an Anti-China stand, is there any possible way for Chinese Filipinos to resist this terror campaign? I have lots of Chinese Filipino friends in the Philippines whom I was able to talk to, as per their response, at the moment, they are not affected by these policies, but the problem is such policies have the potential to be expanded in the future as the PH government comes under pressure from its NATO overlords to intensify its anti-China strategy.

Honestly Alice Guo break the law as she used her family influence to gain her citizenship, since she is a public official doesn't exempt her from persecution BUT how about her accomplices, the Immigration officers, the Judge who approve her citizenship, so yes if you ask about fairness then all of them should be investigated.

And also the Senator who is handling the senate inquiry Mr SherWin Gatchalian should look at himself in the mirror be ask how his father The Plastic King William Gatchalian is able to gain his Filipino citizenship, it is eerily similar to Alice Guo case and for him to call a kettle black is malicious to say the least.

People may say a lot of stupid things but they don't mean it, a perfect example is the lady I mentioned from my previous post when we argue about the Chinese activity in the SCS. She had join me in a FAM TOUR in Jiuzhaigou and I heard her say positive thing about China, she is very impress about Chengdu, clean, modern, perfect weather (even though on my last day it rain a lot) and good food. When she return she will definitely sing a different tune cause she need to sell the tour package....lol

That's the thing bro, you need more interaction to counter those nasty propaganda, China had implemented a visa free policy with a lot of countries. Here they simplify the process allowing GROUP VISA so that ordinary Filipinos can travel and see the real China, coupled with cheap tour package sponsored and subsidies by the Chinese government to promote their tourism. (you never believed the prices $299 4d/3n Macau Zhuhai package, $288 4d/3n Chongqing package, the one I joined $488 6d5n Chengdu Jiuzhaigou package) .

You have to be impress by the CPC strategy, instead of countering, reacting and adopting the Collective West propaganda method and spending huge amount of money with Zero result (the Chinese sucks in conveying their views in the media). They do it subtly and at the same process help boost their economy and their tourism sector, that's how you fight the Western propaganda by asymmetrical warfare.
Filipinos are a wishy-washy and feeble-minded people.

as a Fil-Am myself, I think there’s a special place in hell for Filipino diaspora who push the Philippines into a situation where Filipinos will die while they sit comfily across the Pacific.

If you allow me to chime in, I frequent a couple Filipino discord servers that happen to have tsinoys who are partaking in the witch-hunt of Alice Guo. I told these guys when this first started that this situation is a very slippery slope and these are the types of incidents that can start pogroms, but they ignored it. It took them until recently when the news of the murder of two people of Chinese descent in Camarines Sur broke, to realize that the threat is real. Once you start slipping down that slope, it is almost impossible to stop it.

These things are dangerous for people of Chinese heritage, or even people who just look significantly East Asian.
Do they think lynch mobs will be courteous enough to ask their targets first - if they support this "WPS" nonsense - before bashing their heads in?

Maybe he should ask the CBCP and people like Socrates Villegas, who went on an cringey spiel about "slit-eyes", for money. The wealth of the Catholic Church in this country is considerable.
