The danger lies in non-Western countries sympathizing with [the poor Filipinos who are only trying to protect their territorial claim] (square brackets for sarcasm).
This is not a big deal. Heck, the US can even colonize the Philippines as an overseas territory, yet Filipinos still worship their conquerors (Americans, Japanese), if anything, sticking up for yourself and asserting military dominance might elicit respect and admiration. Filipinos treat China like 1960's poor/backwards nation, they haven't woken up to the reality that China is modernized, powerful, and self-confident nation not willing to be disrepected/trampled on.

Goddamn, is anyone actually in charge over there?
The better question is what on earth do they think they can really offer to China as incentive to negotiate a deal. Given they have already broken one deal, I firmly put them into the "cannot be negotiated with" category. Just like the West.

Speaking of vendettas with Japan, I'm from Nanjing and I know it's not human to attack and kill someone submitting to you. As they are your enemy fighting against you, you think of all the things you will do to them when you have your hands around their necks but when it happens, and they beg, you look at their faces and the faces of their children and they look just like us. Your grip will release.
Do you know how the Anglo led West were able to genocide so many people? Dehumanisation of non white cultures was one method, but the other method was the banality of evil. The British Empire was like a vogon bureacracy with pencil pushers not caring if millions of people starved due to british policy eg irish potato famine, bengal famine, as banal as Little Eichmanns doing their 9-5 to ensure the concentration and extermination camps were running smoothly.

I have nothing personal against Japan since my family were under japanese occupation in taiwan which were relatively benign and hence why you have english vegetable DPP types who want to bring back japanese rule. However, i do see japan as nothing more than the equivalent of the Liao or the Jin of the Song Dynasty; perpetrators of our modern version of the Jingkang incident (Nanjing Massacre) who must necessarily be absorbed into china proper to eliminate any potential threats in the future.

And in line with that elimination of potential threats, i believe China should enact a modern Monroe doctrine; the region has suffered from western colonial predation so there is more than enough cause for a Chinese led security structure exclusing any nation not native to the Asia-Pacific region. That includes indians who exhibit more indo-european traits and culture than east asians.

OK, pretty clear what happened.

US: Hey, Philippines! Go piss off China. Go take your shit. If they do anything, I got yo back!
Philippines: Okey dokey! China!!! You think you're big? Come here and see what I do to you!

Philippines turns around to look at US:

Philippines: Wait, China. Hold on now. Woah woah, let's not get hasty and let's talk about this. This is just one big misunderstanding; we'll laugh about it together once we straighten it up, I'm sure!

PH Navy man who lost thumb recounts China aggression at Ayungin

MANILA, Philippines — Seaman First Class Jeffrey Facundo, the Navy sailor whose thumb was cut off after a botched resupply mission at Ayungin Shoal on June 17, recounted China’s aggression, detailing that Chinese personnel seized their guns and threw corals at Filipino marines stationed at the BRP Sierra Madre.

It was the first time that Facundo spoke publicly about the incident on Tuesday — at the hearing of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations.

“We had been there for about five minutes at the [BRP] Sierra Madre when suddenly Chinese RHIB [rigid hull inflatable boat] arrived. I’m not sure if it’s their Coast Guard. And then what happened when after they arrived, without any warning, they just rammed us,” Facundo said in Filipino.
“They came near us and just rammed us. That’s it. I saw that one of them was carrying what looked like an ax, but the others were carrying long poles with sharp ends,” he added.
“We were advised to bring guns, but they were hidden. We were supposed to replace some troops at BRP Sierra Madre,” Facundo said.

“We were reminded that, under the rules of engagement, we would only fire guns if they first fired at us,” he emphasized.
But the aggression did not stop there. Not known to many, Facundo said the Chinese threw corals at the Filipino troops stationed at the BRP Sierra Madre.

“They punctured your boat, but did they destroy anything at the BRP Sierra Madre?” Marcos asked in Filipino.

They just threw corals, ma’am. They threw corals at the people on top of BRP Sierra Madre,” he said.
Facundo emphasized that the June 17 event was not an accident.

“It could not be called an accident. The ramming was intentional — including the puncturing and destruction [of the boast]. They didn’t want us to complete the resupplying, and they didn’t want us to board [ the BRP Sierra Madre],” he said, adding that the Chinese also hampered their medical evacuation on June 17.

Navy seaman who lost finger from China ramming details June 17 ordeal

Seaman First Class Jeffrey Facundo, member of a Naval Special Operations Unit, recalled that he was part of a party of four vessels — two from the Marines and two from NAVSOU that left mainland Palawan on that day and arrived at the shoal at around 6 that morning.

However only the NAVSOU's boats made it as one of the Marine boats was damaged and its companion boat stayed behind with them.

Once there, the Chinese vessels just rammed them.
"Pagkarating po nila wala na pong warning diniretso yung pagbangga, nagbanggaan na po," Facundo said, explaining there were eight Chinese vessels including an aluminum RHIB of the China Coast Guard.
Facundo recalled that the Chinese personnel had a fireax and pipes with sharp ends. The Chinese cut the ropes on the BRP Sierra Madre.

Facundo said that the Chinese yelled at them while ramming them.

He said he lost his finger when it got caught against Chinese boat that rammed them.

The Chinese personnel also destroyed two personal cellphones which were being used to navigate the boat.

The Chinese has sticks and stones for the Jai Hinds, and axes and corals for the Pinoys.
